JBL Installs Spectacular JBL Synthesis and Audioaccess Audio System for Grand Reopening of American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame & Museum

WOODBURY, NY — JBL, Inc., announced that a complete JBL Synthesis multichannel audio system has been installed in the newly renovated and expanded American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo, TX. The museum, which is the showplace of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), recently celebrated its grand reopening.

The ultimate-performance Synthesis system is installed in the museum’s Grand Hall, the main entry into the museum that will be used to host special events and exhibits. The installation also includes an extensive Audioaccess and JBL distributed-audio system that provides audio for additional exhibit areas and meeting rooms.

The AQHA Hall of Fame & Museum’s state-of-the-art facility features hands-on interactive exhibits, historically significant artifacts, one-of-a-kind works of art, video presentations and live demonstrations. The museum will also include a research library, classrooms, shops and more.

Paul Bente, president of the Home Products Division of Harman Consumer Group, Inc., said, “We are proud that JBL and Audioaccess products is a part of the newly expanded AQHA Hall of Fame & Museum. The museum’s variety of exhibits and audio/video facilities offers attendees a uniquely entertaining and educational experience, and celebrates an integral part of American history and culture.”

JBL and Audioaccess Components: Engineered for Extraordinary Sonic Realism

The AQHA installation is built around an ultra-high-end JBL Synthesis Atlas multichannel audio system located in the Grand Hall, a room that is approximately 92 feet long, 39 feet wide and 34 feet high. The system, which is capable of producing sound pressure level (SPL) that exceeds 100dB in this large space, was designed and installed by Spectrum Engineering and McCracken Electric of Amarillo, TX. The architectural firm was Lavin Architects, and the general contractor was Wiley Hicks, Jr, Inc., both of Amarillo.

The THX Ultra-certified Synthesis installation employs 13 SK2-1000 loudspeakers and four S1S-EX 18-inch subwoofers. Additional components include the SDP-40 digital surround processor/preamplifier and the SDEC-4000 state-of-the-art digital equalizer, plus seven S800 2-channel x 200-watt power amplifiers and four S5160 5 x 160-watt power amplifiers.

The SK2-1000 is a no-compromise four-way loudspeaker designed to deliver remarkable fidelity, dynamic authority and realism in custom installations. It features leading-edge JBL technologies, such as beryllium midrange and ultrahigh-frequency compression drivers for maximum high-frequency and midrange clarity; a specially designed Bi-Radial horn that provides optimum sound coverage over a wide listening area; dual 10-inch high-power cast-frame woofers; and premium-quality internal components.

JBL’s S1S-EX subwoofer provides deep bass all the way down to 18Hz, thanks to its massive 18-inch woofer, which utilizes JBL’s exclusive Aquaplas-coated-cellulose-fiber cone material, a highly rigid yet responsive material that yields articulate, accurate low-frequency response.

The JBL Synthesis SDP-40 is a state-of-the-art 7.2-channel surround processor/preamplifier that delivers extraordinary digital audio and high-definition video. It offers numerous advanced features, including six HDMI digital-video inputs and 12 configurable audio inputs with two 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converters for each audio output, to provide the highest possible fidelity and resolution.

The SDEC-4000 digital equalizer optimizes the performance of a Synthesis multichannel system through the application of precise multiband digital parametric equalization and advanced DSP technologies to achieve extremely smooth and accurate in-room frequency response.

The S800 stereo power amplifiers and S5160 five-channel power amplifiers are engineered for superb sonic performance, and interface with other Synthesis system components for automatic control capabilities.

The museum’s distributed-audio system includes two Audioaccess PX-700 multiroom audio controllers and five Audioaccess MA-362 12-channel amplifiers, along with 26 JBL Control 28 on-wall speakers, 36 JBL SS8C in-ceiling speakers and four JBL SS6C in-ceiling speakers. The system combines exceptional sound quality with multizone flexibility.

To deliver spectacular big-screen picture quality, the Grand Hall features a Barco iD R600 video projector and a 25-foot-wide Draper Paragon motorized projection screen. The AQHA installation provides complete integration and control of all audio, video, lighting and security systems for all of the museum’s seven major presentation areas and 25 audio/video sources.
