HAI Announces New Access Control Product Line

HAI’s New Access Control product line will be demonstrated at HAI’s Booth 18120 at the ISC Show in Las Vegas, NV April 2 — 4, 2008

HAI (Home Automation, Inc.), leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, announced today that it will be shipping a new line of Access Control products to compliment its award-winning home control systems. The new Access Control products will begin shipping in the Second Quarter of 2008 and will be demonstrated in HAI’s Booth 18120 this week at the International Security Conference (ISC) in Las Vegas, NV.

The new Access Control product line will consist of a 125 KHz high security, digitally encrypted, 26-Bit Wiegand proximity card reader that connects to a serial port on an HAI Home Control System. Up to 16 readers can be connected to a serial port on the HAI Omni or Lumina family controllers. The reader provides a read range of up to 4 inches with the HAI Access Control cards and up to 2 inches with the HAI Access Control key tags. The reader incorporates an input for a push to exit button and an output for an electric door strike or magnetic lock.

The reader has durable and scratch resistant polycarbonate housing. Full epoxy potting ensures successful operation even in harsh environments. It can be mounted to metal door frame (mullion) or to any flat wall surface. The two-color LED (green and red) and Piezo sounder guarantee accurate and reliable Door Access operations.

Users can use either a standard credit card sized Access Control card or the convenient Access control keytag to access the system. Each card is attached to a user code in the HAI Omni or Lumina family controller which can be managed with several privileges. Users can be granted privileges based on time of day and day of week as well as any other desired events. When a card is swiped it can accomplish functions such as arming or disarming security and opening a door strike.

HAI Access Control cards can also be tied in to any home automation functions that the HAI Omni or Lumina family controller is capable of including lighting, energy management, surveillance, and audio. For example: swiping a card can disarm the alarm, release the door lock, light a pathway into the house, change the temperature, and turn on several zones of a whole home audio system, and select their volume and source. Each swipe can perform as many actions as desired and these results can be customized by time of day, arming condition, or any other event the HAI home control system is monitoring. Because each card or keytag is tied to a specific user all of the actions can also be customized for each individual user.

All products in HAI’s Access Control line will be shipping Second Quarter of 2008 and available through a worldwide network of Distributors and installing dealers in over 80 countries. For more information please visit www.homeauto.com or call 800-229-7256.
