Furman Elite-15 PF i Power Conditioner and F1500-UPS

Furman, a world-leading provider of power management solutions, today announced that Lutron Electronics, a leading lighting control manufacturer, is utilizing Furman’s Elite-15 PF i and F1500-UPS power management solutions to protect and enhance the performance of A/V components in its elegant NYC Experience Showroom in the Decoration & Design (D&D) building.

Located on Third Ave. in midtown Manhattan, Lutron’s 1,800-square-foot NYC Experience Showroom offers system integrators, designers, architects, interior designers, and their clients the opportunity to experience the energy savings and elegance of Lutron’s lighting and shade control systems in a space typical of NYC living.

As part of this home-like setting, Lutron features an A/V system in its bedroom, kitchen, and media/family room vignettes. The system includes loudspeakers, a flat-panel display, and a drop-down screen and projector. To protect the A/V components from voltage irregularities and optimize their performance, Lutron utilizes the Elite-15 PF i and F1500-UPS power management solutions, which feature Furman’s advanced nonsacrificial SMP surge/spike protection circuit, Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS), and Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT).

“The A/V system is an important aspect of our showroom, giving it a real home-like feel. If components are performing poorly or not at all, it takes away from the visitor’s experience, so we needed advanced power management to keep everything running smoothly,” said Rich Matthews, residential marketing director at Lutron. “We like to work with industry leaders, and our power management is no exception. We chose Furman based on its outstanding reputation for quality and reliability, and they did not disappoint. Our showroom opened in May and all components have performed flawlessly.”

Along with Furman’s proprietary SMP/LiFT/EVS power protection and filtration circuitry, Elite-15 PF i features Furman’s unique Power Factor Technology, which provides connected equipment with a highly filtered, extremely low-impedance supply of AC power for extreme peak power demands. This technology enables power amplifiers and powered subwoofers to operate at maximum efficiency, reaching levels of performance previously unattainable.

The F1500-UPS provides 1500VA battery backup as well as Furman’s SMP/LiFT/EVS circuitry. The unit is fully programmable via RS-232, USB, or LCD front panel interface, and a rear panel card slot accepts an optional TCP/IP control card to provide Panamax/Furman’s exclusive BlueBOLT™ control and monitoring technology. Critical load management allows the user to prioritize allocation of battery power to connected equipment, and a programmable IR blaster provides safe shutdown of remotely located equipment, such as video projectors whose bulbs might otherwise be compromised in the event of a blackout.

“It is an honor to have our solutions chosen by Lutron for this unique showroom in one of the world’s most recognized design centers,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “For the NYC Experience Showroom, our Elite-15 PF i provides peak audio performance, while the F1500-UPS ensures the proper shutdown of components in the event of a blackout. Especially in regards to projector bulbs, this will provide Lutron with significant savings on replacement costs.”
