Emotiva and SVS have carved out rather successful niches for themselves in the world of high-end loudspeakers by focusing on delivering performance at prices that most consumers can afford. That’s not to say that everything they offer is “affordable” but their key products which are offered direct to consumers are great values for the money.
Emotiva’s Airmotiv X loudspeaker lineup has been refreshed for 2024 and there are some notable changes which include a PVC laminated HDF enclosure, and new HDF 25mm baffle, which is extensively damped.
Airmotiv X Speakers
The Airmotiv X loudspeakers feature a new design approach. The cabinets on the towers are slender and graceful. The front panels feature a bevelled edge that is designed to reduce diffraction.
The speakers also feature a satin lacquer finish on the front panels and smooth trim rings that conceal the driver mounting hardware helping with diffraction while providing a more sophisticated and finished appearance.

The driver layout has also been optimized for superior sound quality, complemented by non-parallel midrange walls to reduce internal reflections.
The Airmotiv X Loudspeakers feature a rotatable folded ribbon tweeter with an improved waveguide and Neo Magnet System allowing users to configure the speaker to fit their specific system layout.
Every speaker includes an internal-mounted crossover and efficient wire routing, ensuring efficient performance and serviceability.
Midrange drivers incorporate woven cone diaphragms, aluminum voice coils, milled aluminum phase plugs, copper shorting rings, and NBR (Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber) surrounds.
Woofers incorporate the same structure as the midrange drivers with the addition of a long throw motor and progressive spider.
The over-one-inch thick multi-layer front panel of each enclosure ensures the proper rigidity for producing sound.
The tower speakers are reinforced with internal window bracing and lined with thick Dacron for better sound dampening.
All of the Airmotiv X Series speakers (except the Xa2 surround speakers) have bi-amping terminals that enable you to access the woofer and midrange/tweeter sections of the speaker separately for bi-amping or bi-wiring.
Magnetically attachable/detachable black cloth over rigid frame grills are provided with each speaker.
