ELAN Home Systems Announces Addition of Two New Members to Award-Winning D Series Family of Digital Power Amplifiers at CEDIA 2005

New D400 and D660 Pack Maximum Power in Minimum Space, Offering Dealers More Options

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — CEDIA BOOTH #182 — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home automation systems, announced today that the company will debut two new products in its D Series line of Digital Power Amplifiers, the D400 and D660, at CEDIA Expo 2005 to be held from September 9 through 11 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

The addition of these two new models creates an exceptionally well-rounded and powerful lineup of groundbreaking, premium grade amps for Custom Designers and Installers. Providing more options and greater flexibility, the D400 is a 2-channel Digital Amp, while the 660 is a 6-channel Digital Amp. Both carry the sound performance characteristics that ELAN Dealers have loved in the first two product introductions. Yet now they are packed into unusually slim chassis at only one rack space high, as opposed to the typical five-rack height of non-digital amplifiers with comparable power ratings.

In the tradition of their award-winning big brothers the D1200 and D1650, these new additions include ELAN’s D Series Amplifier family styling, unmatched Class T technology and 85% efficiency rating, and anti-clipping circuitry provided by ELAN’s patent-pending ACE technology (Automatic Clip Eliminator). ACE is a dynamic leveling circuit that eliminates clipping without the typical audio degradation of traditional compressor-based clipping circuits. These combined features are unique to only the D Series Amplifiers and have set the new standard for multi-room custom audio amplifiers. The D1200 and D1650 models alone have garnered six major awards in the past year.

“These latest additions to our unique family of cool-running digital amps produce unparalleled power and performance in the smallest footprint available. In particular, the D400 is rated at 200 Watts RMS per channel and is stable at 2 Ohms, which is a huge selling differentiator. Coupled with our two other D Series models, ELAN is now providing a lineup that can serve the needs of every Specialty Dealer and multi-room audio application,” said Mr. Farinelli.

“We believe the sound, performance and power with the new even smaller stature will appeal to our Dealers and their Customers,” said Paul Starkey, ELAN’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With the addition of these two models, ELAN Dealers now have access to a total of seven unique power amp alternatives between our analog and digital series models that range from $500 to $2200 retail price.”

Due to the use of digital technology, the D660 is clean-sounding and can be installed in enclosed areas such as custom cabinetry without the worry of it overheating itself or other components. Advanced features and style such as front-panel non-volatile level setup, a blue Vacuum Fluorescent Display(VFD), system lock-out, and bulletproof amplifier protection circuits ensure intuitive setup, easy fine-tuning, and long-term reliability. ELAN’s D400 is rated at 80 Watts RMS per channel at 8 Ohms and 135 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohms and 200 Watts RMS per channel at 2 Ohms. The D660 is rated at 80 Watts RMS per channel at 8 Ohms and 75 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohms with less than .04% Total Harmonic Distortion.

ELAN’s D400 and D660 will begin shipping in the fourth quarter of 2005, and each will come with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty. The D400 will be offered at an MSRP of $655.00 for the shelf version and $705.00 for the rack version. The D660 will be offered at an MSRP of $1,000.00 for the shelf version and $1,050.00 for the rack version.
