Roku Expands Beyond TVs with the Aurzen D1R Cube Roku TV Smart Projector

The $200 Aurzen D1R Cube brings Roku OS to a 1080p lifestyle projector, but its limited light output holds it back.

Aurzen D1R Cube Roku Smart Projector

Roku isn’t just the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico—it’s also been building out its hardware lineup with TVs, soundbars, and wireless speakers. Now, it’s making a play for one of the hottest segments in home entertainment: lifestyle projectors. The new Aurzen D1R Cube Roku TV Smart Projector drops straight into a crowded space already stacked with options from Epson, XGIMI, Hisense, Leica, LG, and more.

The question is simple: does Roku’s first projector make sense at $200, or is this just another cube fighting for living room space?

The Aurzen D1R Cube Roku TV Smart Projector is built for flexibility—indoors or outdoors, wall or screen. With auto-focus, auto-keystone, and a Roku remote in hand, it scales to variable screen sizes for immersive entertainment wherever you set it down. Designed as a lifestyle projector, it aims to bring the Roku TV experience out of the living room and into any space.

From Tom McFarland, Vice President, Roku TV: “Whether you’re camping, grilling, or setting up a home theater, projectors have always promised a big-screen experience, but they often lacked the simplicity and smart connectivity that today’s viewers expect,…The Aurzen Roku TV Smart Projector changes that—combining Roku’s award-winning OS with effortless setup and access to thousands of movies, TV shows, and live channels.”

Powered by Roku OS, the Aurzen D1R Cube delivers Roku’s familiar, intuitive streaming experience with seamless content discovery front and center. Users get the personalized home screen, The Roku Channel’s free programming, and access to all major apps. Integration with Roku’s mobile app, wireless speakers, and smart home ecosystem adds more depth—offering wireless audio, Bluetooth private listening, and automatic updates to keep the projector fresh and hassle-free.

The Bottom Line

The Aurzen D1R Cube Roku TV Smart Projector is less about raw performance and more about giving Roku fans another way to stream. On the plus side, you get the familiar Roku OS, easy setup, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Apple AirPlay 2—features that make it simple and flexible to use. The downside is unavoidable: 330 lumens just doesn’t cut it outside of a very dark room, which makes big-screen viewing under normal conditions a struggle.

That puts the D1R Cube closer in spirit to entry-level models like the Wanbo T2 Ultra (500 lumens, $249.99), while falling behind lifestyle projectors like the TCL A1 (360 lumens, $499), XGIMI MoGo 4 (450 lumens, $499.99), and Samsung Freestyle (550 lumens, $799). At $200, the Cube is inexpensive, but also limited.

If Roku follows up with a brighter model—something in the 700–1,000 lumen range—it could actually compete as a practical home theater or outdoor projector. For now, this one is best reserved for bedrooms, dorms, and smaller dark spaces where portability and Roku’s interface matter more than picture punch.
