Enables Drivers to Upgrade Existing Vehicles with Safety Technology

Backing up a vehicle, whether out of a parking space or into one, can be a stressful experience for many drivers. Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of automotive mobile media solutions, offers a premium rear-view camera system for consumers who could use some extra help when backing up. The HCE-C105 rear-view camera and new KTX-C10LP license plate-mounting kit can be easily installed into any car, giving drivers more visibility to what is behind their vehicles.

“The aftermarket driver-assist category is growing, as awareness of safer vehicle operation increases,” said Stephen Witt, vice president, marketing, Alpine Electronics. “Alpine’s rear-view camera products are an easy way for consumers to upgrade their existing vehicles with innovative and convenient features that were previously only found on new cars.”

The HCE-C105 rear-view camera is compatible with any in-dash screen that has a video input. Or, when used with one of Alpine’s 2009 monitor-based units (IVA-W203/P1 and IVA-W505/P1 audio/video/navigation [AVN] systems; iXA-W404 Digital Media Station; or IVA-D106 Mobile Media Station), the HCE-C105 becomes part of a fully integrated system solution. The small 1-inch camera can be mounted anywhere on the rear of the vehicle. It is connected to the compact hide-away box via 5-meter long cables for easy installation. When used with an Alpine in-dash system, the camera is automatically triggered and the rear view is displayed on-screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

The HCE-C105’s main advantage over other cameras is its improved picture quality in low light or night conditions. An automatic brightness sensor and white balance feature help the camera deliver a quality image in either bright or low lighting conditions. With a 138-degree wide horizontal viewing angle and a 105-degree vertical viewing angle, the HCE-C105’s camera captures a wide picture of the area behind the vehicle.

The new KTX-C10LP license plate-mounting kit is designed exclusively for the HCE-C105 and offers easy camera placement and optimum viewing when backing up, as well as simple, elegant installation. Constructed from cast metal with rust-resistant coating, the sturdy black license plate frame elegantly blends the rear-view camera with the rest of the vehicle for a discreet yet premium look. The frame has built-in LED lights to illuminate the license plate in applications where the original license plate light may be blocked by the camera, and has an adjustable camera tilt angle of 45 degrees for optimal viewing angle positioning.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY:
The HCE-C105 rear-view camera is available now for $220 SRI. The KTX-C10LP license plate-mounting kit is available in January for $60 SRI. Both products can be purchased at authorized Alpine dealers.
