Denon AVR-X3800H A/V receiver lifestyle

Denon’s excellent AVR-X3800H A/V receiver just got a nice 22% discount on Amazon. Instead of the regular price of $1699, today you can pick up a brand new X3800 for just $1317.83. That’s the best deal we’ve seen on this 9.4-channel home theater receiver. Check it out:

Who needs one? Anyone who wants to put together an immersive home theater surround sound system without breaking the bank should have this receiver on their short list. Out of the box, the receiver can do nine channels of surround, plus up to four subwoofers. This means you can do a five-channel surround system with four height channels (5.4.4) or a seven channel system with two height channels (7.4.2). If you want to go all out with a 7.4.4-channel surround system, all you need to do is add a stereo power amp to drive the front channels and the receiver will take care of the rest.

We’ve had the Denon AVR-X3800H in the labs for several months and used it to drive (and review) Focal’s 7.2.4 Sib Evo surround sound speaker system. It offers 105 Watts per channel of clean power and can easily fill a medium to large sized living room or home theater with crisp dynamic surround sound. In terms of immersive surround support, the X3800H has it all: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Imax Enhanced, Auro 3D and even Sony 360 Reality Audio.

With six HDMI outputs, three HDMI outputs, power for nine speaker channels, four independent subwoofer outputs and the ability to operate as a preamp-processor, the Denon AVR-X3800H makes a great centerpiece for a high end home theater system.

On the video side of things, the AVR-X3800H supports video signals up to 8K in resolution with passthrough for Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR high dynamic range. HDCP 2.3 and eARC support are included, with six HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs.

The receiver includes Audyssey’s advanced MultEQ XT 32 on-board for speaker calibration with a calibration microphone included. There’s also an option to upgrade to DIRAC Live Room Correction at an additional cost.

The AVR-X3800H is currently on our list of Recommended A/V Receivers for 2023. Pricing and availability are current as of the publication of this article (September 9, 2023). But this offer can change without notice.

Just a note: price has varied a bit over the past couple of days and I’ve seen it as low as $1,335 (earlier today). Great time to grab one of these bad boys. Super versatile and expandable to 11 channels with four independently adjustable subwoofers (7.4.4) by adding a simple stereo power amp.
