Sennheiser has aggressively priced its new wireless active noise cancelling headphones to compete with models double its price.

Has Sennheiser just cut the price of its popular MOMEMTUM 4 wireless noise cancelling headphones, and renamed them ACCENTUM? It appears very much the case, but there are a few things to be aware of.

Sennheiser has introduced a new wireless headphone with Hybrid Active Noise Canceling technology for only $179 USD. The new model is called the ACCENTUM Wireless and Sennheiser’s Principal Product Manager, Christian Ern admits, “it shares much of the most desirable DNA of our award-winning MOMENTUM 4.”

What’s different?

The biggest difference is ACCENTUM’s use of 37mm dynamic transducers versus 42mm on the MOMENTUM 4. How much that impacts sound quality will have to wait until we get them in for review.

ACCENTUM boasts 50 hours of battery life vs. 60 hours and opts for aptX HD instead of aptX Adaptive.

Interestingly, ACCENTUM is 2.5 ounces lighter (7.8 oz vs 10.3 oz), which could make them a lot more comfortable for longer listening sessions.
