Wren V5BT Bluetooth Speaker

Wren V5BT Bluetooth Speaker

Wren Sound Systems just released the V5BT Bluetooth aptX Speaker. It is the third and most versatile tabletop wireless speaker in its line-up which includes the identical looking V5AP and V5PF for Apple or Android users, respectively.

The Wren V5BT will stream music from any iOS, Android, Windows, or Blackberry smartphone, as well as from laptops and netbooks equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 or higher. Direct connection on the rear of the speaker allows users to hardwire such devices as TVs, CD players or Blu-ray players via a 3.5mm aux input, enabling the speaker to serve as a complete source of audio for any room.

Despite its small footprint, the company claims the V5BT produces impressively realistic bass with the use of two custom-designed 3-inch long throw drivers with four layer voice coils. High frequencies are rendered silky and natural by a pair of edge-driven, wide dispersion 19mm soft dome tweeters optimally positioned on the front baffle to create a wide, realistic soundstage that floats high and free above the stereo cabinet. The system is powered by Intersil’s classic D2 50-watt DSP-controlled class D amplifier, enabling room-filling sound without breakup or distortion.

Finished with natural bamboo or rosewood veneers over a half-inch thick MDF board, the cabinet along with an acoustically transparent grille is specially designed to reduce cabinet distortion. A stabilizing pad on the speaker’s underside absorbs any remaining vibration, even at the highest volumes, rendering powerful, crystal clear music. Sophisticated styling, subtle curves, and rich real wood finish make the Wren V5BT beautiful from every angle and a well-dressed piece of audio to fit any interior.

“Bluetooth is a universal and easy to use standard,” says Wren Sound Systems President and CEO Mike Giffin. “Our DTS Play-Fi and AirPlay Wi-Fi models are built for audiophiles seeking lossless sound, extended range and multi-room playback; however, since most systems communicate with Bluetooth we thought it was vital to offer a great wireless solution for households with a wide range of devices with incompatible operating systems. And for folks who have smartphones or tablets equipped with CSR’s aptX Bluetooth, the sound is absolutely audiophile grade.”

Price and Availability
The Wren V5BT is available and shipping now in rosewood for $399.00 at www.wrensound.com, www.crutchfield.com, and www.onecall.com. Natural bamboo is available for pre-order and will ship December 10, 2013.
