New Satellite X205 Series Offers Advanced Feature-Set for an Extreme Gaming and High-Definition Experience Starting at Only $1,999.99

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Satellite X205 series designed specifically for extreme gaming. Toshiba’s new gaming notebook is DirectX 10 compatible and features NVIDIA’s new GeForce 8700M GT graphics processing unit (GPU) with up to 512MB of graphics memory and an HD DVD-ROM drive for the ultimate gaming and high-definition experience.

Starting at $1,999.99, the Satellite X205 continues Toshiba’s tradition of meeting the needs of gaming enthusiasts by providing high-end components at a reasonable price. It is also the company’s first notebook to feature the striking new Flare Carmine high-gloss lid and a built-in Webcam.

Taking the gaming experience to the next level, NVIDIA’s highest performance DirectX 10 GPU empowers gamers to take full advantage of Microsoft’s cutting-edge graphics technology within Windows Vista and deliver ground-breaking visual effects as well as dynamic lighting and shading. The NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT GPU, combined with the Satellite X205’s brilliant 17-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite display, propels next-generation games to new heights of realism by producing realistic textures in hair, facial and body features, while providing a richly detailed environment for an immersive gaming experience.

To enjoy the precision and vividness of high-definition digital entertainment in a portable device, the Satellite X205 incorporates an HD DVD-ROM drive, providing users with the ease and comfort of taking their favorite HD movies on the road. Also, the Satellite X205-S9359 includes a USB external HDTV tuner for playing live HDTV from an antenna or cable or satellite set-top box.

Toshiba’s new gaming notebooks are powered by the new the Intel Centrino Duo processor technology, which is made up of several high-end components, including the Intel Core™ 2 Duo T7000 Processor sequence, Mobile Intel 965 chipset and new Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n wireless connectivity. The new Intel microarchitecture provides users with greater connectivity options while enhancing graphics performance and boosting overall battery life.

Designed for greater amplification and clarity, the Satellite X205 notebook features four built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers with subwoofer, ensuring that gamers will not miss a beat of the pulse-pounding action or a sound effect from their favorite game.

For a cinema-like audio experience, the Satellite X205 notebook series incorporates Dolby Home Theater™ technology and places the user in the middle of the onscreen action for a rich, engaging surround sound experience. Dolby Home Theater™ allows users to enjoy games, music and movies in vivid surround sound from stereo and multichannel audio sources as well as headphones, 2-channel or 5.1-channel speaker systems.

To improve the overall gaming experience on the Satellite X205, Toshiba incorporated 1024MB of Intel Turbo Memory Technology. This new flash-based storage technology from Intel reduces the time it takes the Satellite X205 to boot, launch games and multimedia applications as well as return from hibernation mode.

The new Satellite X205 notebooks also feature an HDMI output port for connecting to an HDTV, a S/P DIF output port for connecting to a 5.1 surround sound stereo and Bluetooth v.2.0+EDR technology to connect with Bluetooth devices, such as wireless gaming controls and other accessories. Also included is a full-size Windows Vista™ compliant keyboard with 10-key pad for easy navigation through today’s most challenging games.

To provide gamers with optimum storage capacity for games, the Satellite X205 series incorporates dual hard disk drives totaling either 240GB or a massive 320GB, depending on configuration, allowing ample storage for other digital media, such as photos, movies or MP3s.
