500-watt Subwoofer With THIEL’s Thermal Compression Compensation Circuit Delivers Bass Down to 10Hz
THIEL Audio has announced the latest member of the THIEL SmartSub family of products, the THIEL USS. The USS carries forward THIEL’s noted engineering achievements in the subwoofer category that virtually eliminate unbalanced response due to room placement restrictions as well as thermal compression distortion common to other subwoofer designs.
The THIEL Universal SmartSub embodies all of the design features and functionality of the original SmartSub SS1, delivering detailed bass response down to 10Hz. The USS incorporates a robust 500-watt analog amplifier with a highly efficient switching power supply driving a 10-inch aluminum woofer boasting a 1.5-inch peak to peak throw. THIEL’s renowned boundary compensation is also part of the package. Unlike the previous model (called the SS1), the new USS also includes THIEL’s patented Thermal Compression Compensation Circuitry as well as a level correction switch to accommodate the use of multiple USS’s per PX05 crossover for systems requiring increased output capability.
The THIEL USS will be available in three finishes, Natural Cherry, Dark Cherry, and Black Ash. Each subwoofer now comes with stainless steel hardware, a new silver logo, and heavy duty spikes borrowed from THIEL’s flagship CS3.7 loudspeaker. The THIEL USS is expected to ship to authorized dealers by Q1, 2010. MSRP for the THIEL USS is $1,990.
