Additionally, Mr. Paul Atkins, Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC, will receive the Bastiat in Public Policy Award.
The Bastiat Society, based in Charleston, South Carolina, is named after the French economist, Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850), one of the all-time great spokesmen for classical liberalism–famous for his ability to translate complex economic ideas into language anyone could understand. Kathy Gornik of Lexington, KY is the first ever recipient of the Bastiat in Business Award, and she will be honored at a reception in Charleston, South Carolina on Saturday, April 5th, 2008.
