The ultra high-end subwoofer scene is getting crowded—if not a bit chest-thumpy. McIntosh wants you to drop a small car’s worth on the PS1K. Meanwhile SVS is going all-in on R|Evolution. REL still speaks fluent British authority. And Grimani Systems? That’s home theater weaponry for Bond villains. Into this increasingly loud room strolls Stenheim, the Swiss maker of precision-engineered loudspeakers wrapped in luxurious aluminum, politely announcing the Alumine Sub—an active 10-inch subwoofer designed not to shake your walls to rubble, but to elevate your entire system with finesse and control.
Unveiled this week at High End Munich 2025, the Alumine Sub is purpose-built to pair with Stenheim’s own Alumine models, particularly the Two and Two.Five, offering the kind of extended bass those smaller models need to fill larger spaces with confidence. That said, it’s not exclusive—this sub will play nice with other brands, too. Stenheim doesn’t discriminate, it just delivers.
Catch it in the Stenheim room at High End Munich (Atrium 4.2 F213), where the new Alumine Sub will make its debut alongside a modest little system worth nearly half a million euros. Expect to hear it paired with the €220,000 Reference Ultime Two SX loudspeakers, the €21,000 Alumine Two SEs, and around €150,000 worth of electronics from Boulder, Master Fidelity, and Thales.
Naturally, all wrapped in Swiss precision and aluminum so refined it could pass for a Rolex case. Because in Switzerland, even the bass wears a tailored suit.

What sets it apart isn’t brute force (though its 1200-watt amp certainly doesn’t lack muscle), but the ability to articulate low-end texture and dynamic nuance with startling realism.
Thanks to its onboard DSP, users can fine-tune frequency, gain, and phase via app or browser to perfectly adapt the sound to their room’s acoustics. Owners of the larger Alumine Three and Five will also find plenty to gain here, dialing in extra low-end definition without muddying the sound.
The cabinet is classic Stenheim: aluminum throughout with an intricate three-chamber internal structure and an isobaric configuration that keeps pressure constant between the two drivers—cutting distortion and shrinking the enclosure size without shrinking performance. It’s got the kind of fast, responsive low end that makes your speakers sound like they just learned a new language.
