The Sound Rooms Business Gets Greener

The terms “luxury” and “green” seem to contradict each other, yet demand for green products in the luxury market continues to escalate. David Young, president of The Sound Room, knows that better than anyone else. Today, over 50% the company’s custom home electronics projects are green-focused.

“Green products sell, and our luxury clientele are no different than anyone else when it comes to saving energy and the environment. Manufacturers of high-end electronics are responding by expanding their energy-efficient offerings, and our clients are asking us for more green options in their custom home installation projects.”

The Sound Room sells a variety of high quality environmentally friendly products, including solar-powered security systems and TVs with an eco-control to reduce backlighting. The company will be among the first to offer the latest eco-friendly TV, a LED backlight LCD, that provides the most energy conservation on the market. It exceeds the new Energy Star 3.0 standard by 50% and has no mercury.

The Sound Room will also be the first to offer the newest and most comprehensive innovation in green home theater technology — the Guiltless Green Home Theater. The high-end system runs entirely on solar power and provides 15 hours of movies a week electricity-free. The company is currently obtaining certification for solar-panel installation for the green theater and anticipates having a display model ready by the end of the summer.

“In addition to energy-efficient electronics, many people don’t realize the most energy they can save is through home automation. The average American household spends roughly $4,300 annually on energy bills, and half of that energy goes toward lighting, household appliances and home electronics like computers, TV’s and stereos. Just by automatically dimming your lights by 25%, you can reduce electricity consumption by 20% and quadruple the life of your bulbs.”
