Sennheiser Multi-Purposes the Mobile Headset

Two In-ear Debuts for Next-Gen Cellphone/Music/Video/Gaming Combos

Old Lyme, Connecticut — Sennheiser Electronic Corporation (SEC), the U.S. wholly-owned subsidiary of the German company whose innovative headphone and microphone designs are global benchmarks, has introduced two new, “in-ear”-style mobile communications headsets. The MM10 and MM50 bring true Sennheiser-grade audio quality to mobile phones, ideal for new-generation, multi-purpose phones that combine MP3 music playback, video, and gaming with mobile communications.

“The old paradigm of a single-purpose, talk-only cellphone is rapidly fading into the past,” says Bill Whearty, Sennheiser Electronics’ vice president of sales. “It won’t be long before the vast majority of mobiles will include high-quality music playback, AV options, and even fairly serious gaming on board. These new headsets lead the way, with true high-fidelity sound and characteristic Sennheiser quality and ruggedness.”

The MM50 is a sealed in-ear headset that delivers true audiophile-grade sound from music and AV playback and games, while providing the listener with substantial isolation from ambient noise, a feature sure to be welcome to phone-only users as well. Supplied with three sizes of replaceable soft, form-fitting silicone-rubber ear-sleeves, the MM50 assures every user a correct, comfortable fit. The MM10 delivers the same concept in an ultra-lightweight, “earbud” design. Simple yet comfortable, it provides impressive bass response: 60-18,000 Hz, and the MM50 18-22,000 Hz.

Both feature a high-clarity in-line microphone with a convenient call/answer/end button. The MM series is equipped with universal 2.5mm plugs for connection to most mobile devices. Both are supplied with a clothing clip to keep mic and cable appropriately in place, while the MM50 adds a handy soft carrybag.

The Sennheiser MM10 and MM50 mobile-phone headsets will be available January 2006, at Sennheiser’s suggested retail price of $29.95 and $59.95, respectively.
