NEC Introduces the World’s Brightest Projector Under Four Pounds

New Automatic Projectors Provide Lightweight, High Performance Features with an Astonishingly Inexpensive Price Tag

NEC Corporation of America (NEC), an industry leader in IT, visual displays and network solutions, is proud to announce the NEC NP60 digital projector. An industry first, this automatic projector features brightness of 3000 lumens in only a 3.5 pound package. The NP60 is bright, powerful and packed with technological innovations, while sporting a footprint around the size of a mouse pad!

“NEC was the first to produce an award-winning fully automatic projector last year and we’ve improved upon previous models by reducing the new NP projectors size and weight by 20%,” said Keith Yanke, senior product marketing manager, NEC Corporation of America, Visual Systems Division. “The NP60 is the world’s lightest projector at 3000 lumens and is packed with a multitude of automatic features while sporting a very inexpensive price tag.”

The NEC NP60 projector is specifically engineered for the SMB/SOHO and corporate markets targeting road warriors and sales executives. To give the presenter the ultimate ease of use this projector also includes many automatic features including auto focus, auto vertical keystone correction, auto source selection, quick shut down and AutoSense™ technology, all wrapped up in a super lightweight package.

Lightweight Performance
The NP60 demonstrates an extremely high brightness of 3,000 lumens while packed into a projector weighing a mere 3.5 pounds. This feat was achieved via the adoption of a magnesium material for the main body as well as NEC’s exclusive hybrid cooling system promoting an efficient exchange through the fan and air pump.

Auto Focus and Auto Keystone Correction
The NP60 achieves a very quick setup due to key features like automatic focus and automatic keystone correction. Automatic focus instantly provides a sharp detailed image through the automatic calculation of the focus sensor. There is no need to make any adjustments, the projector automatically focuses; even in the case when the projector is moved during a presentation. Automatic vertical keystone correction technology instantly projects a square image even when the projector is set up at a steep offset angle to the screen or projected on a rounded wall.

Quick Start Up and Shut Down
Quick start-up and instant shut down enables the presentation to start and end according to the user’s schedule, so that meeting time is not wasted waiting for the projector to startup or cool down. Automatic start-up powers on the projector as soon as it is plugged into a power outlet. Instant shut down enables the projector to be turned on and off from a wall switch or power strip. The fan and air pump continuously cool the projector so that it can be turned off and packed up immediately.

Auto Signal Detection
The final automatic feature incorporated into the NP60 to make presenting easier and ensure quicker set-up is AutoSense™. AutoSense intuitively syncs the projector with most computer signals and features one touch image optimization.

Pricing and Availability
Other projectors in this series include the NEC NP40 and NP50. The DLP™ NP40/50/60 projectors have a lamp life of up to 3000 hours in Eco-mode™ and have a native resolution of XGA and can display sources with resolutions up to UXGA. The NEC NP40 has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and is 2200 lumens, whereas both the NP50 and NP60 have 1600:1 contrast ratios and are 2600 and 3000 lumens respectively. The NEC NP40, NP50 and NP60 are now shipping and are priced at $899(a), $1,199 and $1,299 respectively.
