Combines a LED light, full range loudspeaker and wireless audio receiver

OSRAM SYLVANIA and ARTISON, a leading innovator of high end audio technology, have partnered to bring to market MusicLites, a first of its kind wireless light speaker combination. This ground-breaking new product fits existing lighting fixtures and provides the most cutting edge lighting and high fidelity audio available today.

The unique concept of a speaker and light combination was invented and patented in 1999 by Cary Christie, president and CEO of ARTISON. Today’s product is the collective result of OSRAM SYLVANIA’s expertise in LED solutions and ARTISON’s creative dedication to state-of-the-art audio. MusicLites fits multiple applications in the commercial or consumer marketplace. The MusicLites’ design combines an efficient 10-watt LED light, a 70-millimeter full range high fidelity loudspeaker and a wireless audio receiver in a module that is compatible with many audio sources. MusicLites fits into four-, five- or six-inch recessed cans, providing light output equivalent to a 65-watt reflector bulb. The audio signal is transmitted via a proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless transceiver and works with various audio sources, such as USB, smartphone, and portable audio devices, providing limitless light and audio distribution throughout any environment. Each MusicLites kit contains two 3.8-inch x 5.3-inch modules, including a remote that controls light, including dimmers, and audio settings.

“We are excited to provide users with the ultimate experience in lighting and sound, made possible through our partnership with ARTISON,” said Rick Leaman, president and CEO of OSRAM SYLVANIA. “With the ease of screwing in a light bulb, consumers and businesses can experience a quality, custom sound system and the most energy-efficient lighting technology.”

“MusicLites is the most revolutionary product that I have developed in my 40 years in the consumer electronics industry. With our combination of light and sound, anyone can now enjoy functionality and luxury in one package,” commented Christie. “I am enthusiastic about the synergy of our companies working together and I am happy to see MusicLites become a reality.”

Featuring LED technology, MusicLites is the first of many products planned for the future of light and sound. Working together across industries, OSRAM SYLVANIA’s commitment to energy-saving technologies and ARTISON’s mission to develop technological innovations in audio is an unbeatable combination.

MusicLites will be commercially available in the fall 2010.
