Morgan Plus Four Rolls Into U.S. With Sennheiser Audio: Vintage British Roadster Meets Iconic German Hi-Fi

The Morgan Plus Four debuts in the U.S. with a premium Sennheiser sound system featuring AMBEO Contrabass technology for rich, immersive audio in a lightweight British sports car.

Morgan Plus Four

Over the past 15 years, my relationship with Morgan Motor Company has been equal parts exhilarating and maddening. Having been related to both a Morgan Three-Wheeler and a 2022 Roadster, I understand the quirks, the charm, and the occasional urge to throw a spanner across the garage. That’s why this latest news caught my attention: at Monterey Car Week 2025, Morgan has rolled out the Plus Four for U.S. roads with something entirely new—a Sennheiser in-car sound system.

It’s the first time American drivers will get German hi-fi precision inside a hand-built British sports car, though how much you’ll actually hear with the top down and the wind roaring past your ears is another question entirely.

For Morgan owners, driving is as much about emotion and connection as it is about performance and craftsmanship,” said Matthew Hole, Managing Director at Morgan Motor Company. “Given the tactile, engaging and timeless nature of Morgan sports cars, it is imperative that a high-quality audio system complements the experience rather than competes with it.”

This U.S. debut builds on Sennheiser’s AMBEO system first sneaking into a car back in 2020 with the Karma Revero GT, which itself made its bow at Monterey Car Week in 2019. Veronique Larcher, Managing Director at Sennheiser Mobility, says, “Sennheiser is synonymous with premium sound, and we’re excited to bring our in-car audio expertise to the U.S. market through our continued partnership with Morgan Motor Company. The Morgan Plus Four is a car that speaks to the senses, and our sound system ensures that hearing is no exception.”

How and Why Morgan and Sennheiser Teamed Up to Redefine Audio in Lightweight Sports Cars

The relationship goes back more than three years, when Morgan came looking for an advanced audio solution for its bespoke sports cars—something that wouldn’t look like it had been bolted in by a distracted apprentice during tea break. The aim was simple: keep Morgan’s old-school design ethos intact while delivering something sonically worthy of the badge.

The problem? Morgan’s lightweight, hand-built, gloriously minimalist cars are about as friendly to rich bass reproduction as a leaky tin bath. To solve this, Sennheiser Mobility and Morgan tucked discreet bass actuators under each seat and hid a compact subwoofer inside the chassis—no small feat without upsetting the car’s delicate weight balance or turning it into a rattletrap—having driven both vehicles on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey and across country roads along the Shore and west into Pennsylvania—that’s a given even without the actuators thanks to our horribly maintained roadways.

The result is a system that delivers deep, immersive bass in a package light enough to keep the Plus Four’s handling sharp. It’s a clever bit of engineering that sets a benchmark not just for Morgan, but for any carmaker trying to squeeze proper hi-fi into something that still thinks cupholders are an extravagance.

Thanks to Sennheiser’s AMBEO Contrabass algorithm, the system delivers bass that’s tuned for definition, punch, and depth while remaining efficient and compact. The setup features eight transducers: four conventional speakers located in the doors and rear panel, and four “invisible” speakers—three positioned behind the dashboard and one in the lower compartment panel dedicated to bass reproduction. All transducers are driven by a new amplifier with a dedicated DSP, running Sennheiser’s proprietary audio processing software.

Tuning was a critical part of the process, with Sennheiser using its state-of-the-art audio algorithms to create a listening experience tailored specifically to the Plus Four’s cabin—whether the roof is up or down. The goal was to make each drive sound less like “car stereo” and more like “rolling home theater.” Expanded volume dynamics and extended Bluetooth range help maintain consistent, high-quality playback in varying driving conditions.

Ease of use was also a priority. Playback functions such as pause and track skip are handled through the vehicle’s existing volume dial, avoiding extra buttons or clutter. An LCD screen provides clear visual feedback, displaying track details and volume levels for an intuitive, distraction-free experience.

“Our work with Sennheiser represents everything we strive for in creating unique automotive experiences,” said Matthew Hole, Managing Director at Morgan Motor Company. “Going beyond a normal sound system, the company’s work with Morgan is centered around crafting a seamless, evocative atmosphere that supports the unique character of the vehicle. We’re proud to see this partnership reach the U.S., and excited to share it with drivers who truly appreciate the art and sound of driving.”

The Bottom Line

In addition to the Plus Four, Sennheiser’s audio system now graces Morgan’s Supersport and Midsummer models in the EU and UK, with both brands treating the partnership as a long-term testbed for innovation in lightweight sports car audio. The Plus Four with Sennheiser sound is available now through select U.S. dealerships as an extra $3,770 option. Still, for many Morgan purists, the real soundtrack comes from the road itself—the feel of every bump through the chassis, the mechanical chatter, and the growl of the engine. For them, that’s the only music that truly matters.
