Experienced Business Expert Rounds Out Management Team
DRAPER, UTAH — August 31, 2006 — Kent Thomas will join SE2 Labs as Chief Financial Officer, company officials announced today. Thomas was selected because of his strong experience in bringing companies through the seed capital, prototype, and venture capital stages of development. Thomas will concentrate on creating financial controls and acting as a liaison between SE2 Labs and the community of investors and venture capitalists.
A longtime resident of the Salt Lake City area, Thomas is the founder and managing member of CFO Solutions, L.L.C. Since founding CFO Solutions in 1996, Thomas and his team have served over 40 companies, ranging from startups to those with $30 million in annual revenues. During this time, Thomas’s clients have raised more than $80 million in equity, debt and lease financing. Thomas has served as the chief executive or chief financial officer/controller of seven companies since 1980, including a $55 million publicly traded corporation (Marathon Office Supply in Los Angeles, CA.) Most recently, Thomas was Vice President and CFO of InsurQuote Systems, Inc., an insurance rating software development firm based in Provo, Utah. Thomas will be joining another established entrepreneur, Michael Pyle, the founder and President of SE2 Labs. Pyle is the former President of Aurant, an audio-video consulting firm from the Salt Lake City, Utah area.
“Kent is going to be a tremendous asset to the company and I’m thrilled to welcome him to the team,” Pyle said. “At this stage in our development, it’s critical that we develop positive relations with the investment community. There’s no one better to spearhead this than Kent.”
SE2 Labs manufactures the Integrated Theater Console, or ITC. The ITC combines a state-of-the-art HD-DVD player, Hi-Def TiVo, a high-end Digital Surround Processor, high-end Class D amplifiers, an Apple Video iPod with Dock, and a top-of-the line gaming system, among many other features and components. The entire package will be contained in a single box the size of a microwave oven, and controlled by a single proprietary remote control.
The ITC will radically change the way home theater setups are designed and installed. The ITC system, with all its components, will come in a box less than two feet square. All components will ship from the factory already fully installed, fully programmed, fully integrated, and fully optimized.
All that will be left for the installer to do is connect the speakers, connect the TV, and turn it on, says Pyle.
SE2 Labs debuted the ITC prototype last winter at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Thomas’s hire comes on the heels of the award of five key patents that protect SE2 Labs investment in its technology.
