KEF Receives ISO 9001:2000 Certification

Audiophile Speaker Designer Recognized for Outstanding, Consistent Quality in Manufacturing and Management Practices

MARLBORO, NJ — July 12, 2005 — Since being founded 45 years ago, KEF has built its world-class audio entertainment products on a foundation of quality, honesty, dedication, and innovation. Following an independent audit of KEF’s internal quality management system, the company has been granted ISO 9001:2000 certification. This registration recognizes KEF’s continuing commitment to ensuring the consistency of its manufacturing, employee training, customer support, and more. By aligning itself with ISO’s internationally recognized standards, KEF has once again demonstrated its leadership in setting the quality benchmark for home audio entertainment.

“At KEF, our top priority is producing products that go beyond satisfying the expectations of our dealers and their customers,” said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. “This conviction relies on our entire team’s effort to maintain the standards upon which KEF was founded and has since built its respected reputation. Being certified confirms our dedication to being the most reliable manufacturer of audio entertainment speakers and systems for the home. Each member of the KEF team played an integral role in achieving ISO 9001:2000 certification, and we are poised to continue the company’s legacy of excellence into the future.”

In seeking ISO 9001:2000 certification, KEF submitted its plans for manufacturing and management quality for independent audit, which were reviewed for thoroughness and efficiency in meeting customer needs and conforming to industry regulations. In addition, implementation of the plans was examined, with a focus on KEF’s efforts to continually improve its quality assurance processes. By meeting the demands of the review process, KEF demonstrates that its products, services, and employees meet the internationally recognized criteria that are critical to the company’s success and continued growth.

About KEF Audio

KEF was founded in 1961 by an electrical engineer named Raymond Cooke in a Nissen Hut on the premises of a metal working operation called Kent Engineering & Foundry (hence KEF), on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent. From the beginning KEF was destined to become a company with a flair for uniqueness and innovation in engineering, design and materials. The four cornerstones of KEF’s success over 45 years are Quality, Honesty, Dedication and Innovation.

The company is professional from top to bottom. Still occupying the same river-bank site in Kent, the company services export markets throughout the world, manufacturing high performance speakers for home cinema, hi-fi and custom installation applications. KEF firmly and passionately remains true to its proprietary, proven technologies such as Uni-Q and ACE. It is these characteristics, traditions and above all sound quality that have ensured that KEF’s reputation for audio excellence is among the finest in the world.
