JBL Signs On As Official Sponsor Of The 2006 Tribeca Film Festival

21 April 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

— JBL Professional Loudspeakers to Be Installed in Multiple Theaters and Locations in the Tribeca PAC/BMCC and Tribeca Cinemas Complex —

WOODBURY, NY — JBL, celebrating its 60th anniversary as the leading manufacturer of professional and consumer loudspeakers, today announced it has signed on as a sponsor of the Tribeca Film Festival, which takes place April 25 — May 7, 2006, in New York. The company will supply an extensive complement of ultrahigh-performance JBL Professional loudspeakers for a theater in the Tribeca PAC/BMCC (Performing Arts Center/Borough of Manhattan Community College), and for two theaters and additional locations in the Tribeca Cinemas complex.

Paul Bente, president of JBL Consumer Products, pointed out: “JBL is extremely proud to support the Tribeca Film Festival. The Festival represents the very best in cinema excellence, from the quality and diversity of the films to the absolutely stunning venues in which the films will be presented — and we are honored that the Tribeca Film Festival chose JBL to provide the ultimate in theater sound.”

Bente continued: “JBL and the cinema have always gone hand in hand, from the first talking pictures to the present day, with JBL loudspeakers installed in the majority of Dolby, DTS and THX movie theaters throughout the world. Reflecting JBL’s ‘Pro Sound Comes Home’ design philosophy, JBL consumer loudspeakers utilize design innovations and technologies directly derived from the company’s professional models — enabling listeners at home and in the car to enjoy the same clear, accurate and dynamic sound that is heard in the cinema.”

The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the premier showcases for American and international films. The Festival was founded in 2002 to foster the economic and cultural revitalization of Lower Manhattan through an annual celebration of film, music and culture, and to promote New York City as a major filmmaking center and help filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience.

JBL and the Tribeca Film Festival: Presenting the Finest in Cinema Artistry

The JBL Professional loudspeakers to be installed in the Tribeca PAC/BMCC and the Tribeca Cinemas theaters are state of the art in every respect. All are designed and engineered to deliver a listening experience that conveys all the power and emotion of movies and music with thrilling realism and unmatched sonic accuracy.

The JBL Pro loudspeakers for the Tribeca PAC/BMCC include three 4632-T ScreenArray three-way, tri-amplified main-channel left-, center- and right-front loudspeaker systems; four AM4315/95 and twenty 8340A surround-channel loudspeakers; and four 4642A dual-18-inch subwoofers. The installation also includes the high-performance dbx DriveRack 260 loudspeaker equalization and management system, and Crown CTs Series amplifiers.

Both theater installations in the Tribeca Cinemas complex feature three JBL 3622N ScreenArray two-way loudspeakers for the main front channels; six 8340A loudspeakers for the surround channels; a 4642A subwoofer; and Crown CTs Series amplifiers.

The Academy Award-winning JBL ScreenArray loudspeakers incorporate a number of advanced JBL technologies to deliver exceptional performance in the most critical film-sound-reproduction applications. The loudspeakers include JBL’s exclusive, industry-leading midrange and high-frequency compression drivers and pure-titanium diaphragm tweeters, which deliver maximum clarity and resolution; heavy-duty woofers with extended low-frequency response and massive power-handling capability; controlled-dispersion transducers and JBL’s patented Screen Spreading Compensation (SSC) and Focused Coverage Technology, which deliver smooth and uniform frequency response over a wide seating area.

The sonic result is nothing less than remarkable, with deep, authoritative bass; a richly detailed midrange with unequalled articulation of dialogue, music and effects; pure, open and extended high frequencies; a vast, immersive soundfield; and remarkable dynamic range. The theaters’ extraordinary audio and video quality will enable attendees to experience the films with all of the realism and emotional impact the directors intended.

In addition, JBL Control Series loudspeakers and subwoofers and dbx and Crown electronics will be installed in a downstairs lounge, a gallery space and a restaurant located in the Tribeca Cinemas complex. JBL’s Control Series loudspeakers offer an ideal combination of compact design, lightweight, installation flexibility; and clear, powerful sound. All of the systems in the Tribeca Cinemas complex will be permanent installations.
