The CST55 tower and CSC55 center channel loudspeakers both feature a premium-quality 3/4-inch titanium-laminate tweeter that delivers frequency response to 30kHz, for pure, open and extended high-frequency reproduction even when the most-demanding high-resolution program sources such as DVD-Audio and SACD are being reproduced. The tweeter operates in conjunction with JBL’s exclusive Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide, originally developed for JBL’s industry-standard LSR Series professional studio monitors, to deliver smooth, accurate tonal balance off-axis as well as on-axis, along with more precise imaging and localization of music, dialogue and effects.

The CST55 and CSC55 incorporate dual 5-inch woofers that utilize JBL’s proprietary PolyPlas polymer-coated-cellulose-fiber cone material, which combines the sonic neutrality of paper with the added rigidity and damping of the PolyPlas treatment to attenuate cone resonances and provide a smooth frequency response with a detailed midrange and natural vocal and instrumental reproduction.

The woofers also feature large-diameter 1-1/2-inch voice coils with high-efficiency neodymium magnets for improved dynamic response with lower distortion, and the woofers’ unique HeatScape vented-polepiece motor structure provides efficient heat dissipation for accurate driver performance, even during high-volume playback. The CST55 and CSC55 both include JBL’s Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network, which employs a short signal path and premium-quality parts to maintain maximum sonic purity.

The CSS10 powered subwoofer features a built-in amplifier (300-watt peak/150-watt RMS) and a high-excursion 10-inch woofer for tight, authoritative low-frequency performance all the way down to 27Hz. The woofer operates in a down-firing enclosure incorporating JBL’s FreeFlow port architecture, which utilizes a computer-optimized port to eliminate audible port noise and maximize output. The CSS10 (18-1/4″ high by 13-14″ wide by 16″ deep) offers line-level and LFE connection options to optimize its performance in any home entertainment system and room.

All JBL Cinema Sound models, including the CSS10, are magnetically shielded and employ JBL’s room-friendly acoustical-design principles, which ensure they will provide sonically accurate performance in the widest variety of listening environments and placement positions.

JBL Cinema Sound is distinctively elegant in appearance. All models feature rich metallic-silver enclosures and trim, with contrasting high-gloss-black front panels and removable black grilles, creating a striking, unique contemporary look with the grilles either on or off. Measuring 46″ high by 8″ wide and 6-1/2″ deep, the sleek slim-tower design and integral small-footprint circular base of the CST55 floorstanding loudspeaker enable it to be easily placed in a home entertainment system in a broad variety of 5.1-, 6.1- and 7.1-channel configurations. The thin 4-1/4″ depth of the CSC55 center channel speaker (6-1/4″ high by 26″ wide) makes it perfect for installation above or below flat-panel LCDs and plasma displays or above ultrathin rear-projection televisions.

Suggested retail pricing for JBL Cinema Sound loudspeakers is as follows: CST55, $379 each; CSC55, $329 each; CSS10, $429 each. All models are currently available.
