HAI Introduces Omnistat2, a New Generation of Energy Efficient Thermostats and Winner of an Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award

The Omnistat2, named an Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the Home Appliances product category by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), will be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 7 — 10, 2008.

New Orleans, LA – HAI (Home Automation, Inc.), a leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, has been promoting energy efficiency within the home environment for over 20 years providing ways for homeowners to reduce energy consumption while maximizing comfort. With the Omnistat2, HAI introduces a product that allows a homeowner to easily define temperature schedules and monitor their energy consumption for increased savings and comfort.

The Omnistat2 is a 7-day programmable communicating thermostat designed to precisely control the temperature and humidity within the home. Using advanced digital technology it actually “learns” a home’s heating and cooling patterns and adjusts control to maximize both the HVAC system’s efficiency and the occupants’ comfort. According to the Alliance to Save Energy, up to half of the average energy bill is just for heating and cooling. The best way to control energy costs is by managing the heating and cooling system; Omnistat2 automatically adjusts temperatures without compromising comfort resulting in the homeowner saving more by doing less.

The Omnistat2 is able to communicate with HAI and most home control systems for coordination of energy savings with daily activities, such as “Home”, “Away”, or “Vacation”. It can be controlled from within the house or remotely through the telephone or Internet through HAI’s control systems and accessories. All Omnistat2 models meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency.

“HAI also offers versions of the Omnistat2 that communicate with utility metering systems” explains HAI President and CEO Jay McLellan. “This allows for real time energy cost and usage to be displayed directly on the thermostat so homeowners can visualize and understand their consumption, and to be able to reduce it whenever possible. As more utility companies begin to use smart metering systems, HAI will be leading the charge with the Omnstat2.”

Comfort has never looked so good! The Omnistat2 has three different color options, Black, Silver, and White, in order to match nearly any decor. Additionally, with over one hundred customizable backlight colors, you may change the backlighting from blue to red or any color in between by turning the knob.

The three soft buttons and turn knob make operation and programming intuitive and straight-forward. To adjust the temperature, simply turn the knob to the right or left. The three buttons facilitate easy to navigate menus to display information such as temperature set points, modes, outdoor temperature and humidity, run time by week, and more.

The first two models in the Omnistat2 line, the RC-1000 and RC-2000 will be shipping in the second quarter of 2008. The Omnistat RC-1000 supports conventional and heat pump systems, and dual fuel with 2nd stage auxiliary heat. The Omnistat RC-2000 has all of the features of the 1000 but adds humidity control and supports 2 stage conventional and 2 stage heat pump with 3rd stage auxiliary heat systems. HAI will be demonstrating the Omnistat2 RC-2000 model in Booth 26421, South Hall at CES and at the Showstoppers Press reception to be held Jan. 7, 6-10pm at the Wynn Hotel.
