PETALUMA, Calif. — March 6, 2007 — Furman Sound, a world-leading provider of AC power management and conditioning solutions, today announced that its SPR-20 stable power regulator and conditioner has been named Best Accessory of 2006 by CE Pro magazine, a leading trade publication for professionals involved in the custom electronics business.
When selecting the Best Accessory of 2006, CE Pro reviewed the many products featured in the magazine throughout the year and made its selection based on feature sets, performance level, and cost. With an abundance of technologies that enhance the performance of today’s audio and video components, Furman’s SPR-20 was chosen as the best.
“It is an honor to have the SPR-20 recognized by CE Pro as the best accessory of the year, and it is a real testament to Furman’s power management and conditioning technology,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Furman Sound and Panamax. “The SPR-20 features a wide array of proprietary technologies that not only protect sensitive home theater components, but ultimately enhance the sound and images in any system for the best possible performance.”
Incorporating 12 filtered and protected outlets in a rack-mountable or stand-alone unit, the SPR-20 offers exclusive stable AC voltage regulation technology to optimize the performance of voltage-starved power amplifiers and powered subwoofers. Further, Furman’s zero-crossing solid-state technology provides virtually unlimited peak current delivery. The unit generates negligible heat and produces none of the mechanical noise typical in other AC voltage regulators.
The SPR-20 features Furman’s proprietary Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+) technology, which combines three filtering and protection circuits: Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) suppresses noise dramatically and consistently across the entire dynamic range; Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) clamps and dissipates damaging transient voltages at the highest degree available without sacrificing itself; and Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) circuitry protects against prolonged overvoltages by shutting off the incoming power until the overvoltage condition is corrected.
