Audio Plus Services announced the Focal Viva Utopia and Viva Center Utopia loudspeakers, new models dedicated to the specific demands of reference home theater and multichannel applications.

The latest model of the acclaimed Utopia III range, Viva Utopia is a compact three-way loudspeaker dedicated to the very soul of music and movie soundtrack reproduction. Used Vertically in pairs (Viva Utopia) or horizontally by itself (Viva Center Utopia), either in Home Theatre or Stereo configuration, the Viva Utopia delivers perfectly matched, unsurpassed sonic performance that will compliment any decor. Advantages of its unique design arrangement are extreme clarity of midrange, high efficiency and power handling with very low directivity on the horizontal axis for perfect control of phase and 3D imaging.

Utopia, Focal's flagship, was created within the constant quest to provide customized solutions to obstacles against an unrelenting search for ultimate acoustic performance. With the Viva Utopia, the main acoustic design difficulties were linked to the small volume of the mid-range compartment, in particular because of back wave interactions. The development of a volume in the shape of a decompressed prism was the ultimate solution in order to obtain perfect midrange tone, without deadening the sound.

Viva Utopia and Viva Center Utopia are technically similar, using the same custom designed sandwich “W” drivers in a DiApolito configuration, (two per loudspeaker, one for the bass section and a second one for the midrange/treble channels spread in the two bass enclosures), the same crossovers, and the same cabinet. The only difference is the midrange/treble axis that is fixed on the circular support in solid Aluminum. The Viva Utopia also has four metal inserts in its base, in order to attach the stand with screws and provide excellent stability. The Viva Center Utopia doesn't require any as it couples directly onto its stand. The latter can orient the loudspeaker up to 15° to find the perfect angle towards the listening position. The mass loaded stands of the Viva Utopia and Viva Center Utopia have a substantial base plane to ensure perfect stability for these two loudspeakers.

“The Focal Utopia range are considered by audiophiles and critics alike to be the world's finest loudspeakers. Therefore for Focal to put the Utopia name on a multichannel model, without a doubt it had to be the finest of its kind on the market. The Viva Utopia and Viva Center Utopia deliver the tonal balance, dynamic capability, detail and imaging that ultra-critical listeners have come to expect from Focal. In my view, there is no question that they have exceeded my every expectation.”
— Daniel Jacques, President of Audio Plus Services
