ELAN Home Systems Debuts Groundbreaking TheaterPoint Home Theater Speakers at CEDIA 2005

Long Time Supplier of Systems For All Rooms in Home Zeros in on Home Theater as Next Strategic Target

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — CEDIA BOOTH #182 — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home automation systems, announced today that the company will debut it’s highly anticipated new line of home theater speakers at CEDIA 2005 to be held from September 9 through 11 in Indianapolis Indiana. The debut of ELAN’s TheaterPoint Home Theater Speakers marks the company’s first major strategic move into the home theater arena. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

“Over the years, ELAN has delivered high-quality and superb sound performance throughout the whole house, from our unique, state-of-the-art Digital Amplifiers to our renowned M Series Architectural Speakers. However, we’ve observed a clear value gap in today’s home theater speakers and, in response, are now applying our expertise toward producing products specifically for the sweet spot in the home — the home theater,” said Mr. Farinelli.

Paul Starkey, ELAN’s EVP of Sales and Marketing added, “ELAN is a serious supplier of upscale in-wall speakers. Our business has grown five-fold in this category through the delivery of superior quality products at better price points. This original assortment of 30 products has now expanded to include eight high-performance theater options, putting ELAN in the top echelon of speaker suppliers.”

The TheaterPoint (THP) line of Home Theater Speakers has been designed to provide Specialty Dealers with exactly the right assortment, including eight models that embrace ELAN’s advanced engineering, dramatic esthetics, and explosive sound. Unlike many companies today that OEM parts or even the speakers themselves, THP Speakers have been meticulously engineered by ELAN from the ground up and set a new standard through the incorporation of exclusive, unique features. In particular, relevant THP models have directed-sound through “pointable” tweeters with laser precision that provide that perfect sweet spot every time, regardless of the room. And, through use of an ELAN-provided special laser pointer, Dealers can easily calibrate the sound to each individual home theater.

Additional unique-to-industry features include In-Ceiling Speakers with a 360 degree vibration-free rotating baffle which provides for pinpoint location of highs and mids; and a vertically or horizontally mounted in-wall LCR Speaker whose angled baffle can be flipped to point sound left, right, up or down. Also included are horizontally-mounted dipoles that provide greater dispersion and have acoustically symmetrical tweeter/mid cavities with foam-lined walls for minimum reflection.

Because of the flexible THP offerings with matched voicing, Dealers can now easily create the perfect package every time regardless of the room’s acoustics or size. From basic 5.1 In-Ceiling up to full-blown, premium, free-standing 7.1 Surround, the THP Series offers everything necessary for today’s home theaters. Specific models include the Dual 5.25″ Front Stage, In-Wall / In-Ceiling LCR and the larger Dual 6.5″ Front Stage, In-Wall / In-Ceiling LCR. Also, there are two Surround Dipoles and the line’s particularly unique pivoting and pointable 8″ In-Wall / In-Ceiling Speaker. In the freestanding category, the line includes two Cabinet Loudspeaker models; a Dual 5.25″ LCR and a Dual 6.5″ LCR Loudspeaker. The TheaterPoint system is completed with a 12″ Active Sub Woofer.

Each THP Speaker has also been crafted from the finest materials known to maximize performance. Some highlights include all Kevlar drivers, alloy frame woofers, specially braced cabinets, and state of the art components which ensure uniform sound character from top to bottom. ELAN’s use of Kevlar as a tweeter is believed to be an industry first and yields an unprecedented clean spacious sound. Also, drive components are sited close together to deliver rock solid imaging, seamless response and exceptionally controlled dispersion.

Specialty Dealers also gain the traditional added benefit of ELAN’s signature “good / better / best” in the category product offerings, and can attach other ELAN products with ease to offer their clients a complete whole-house system.

“ELAN continually strives to provide better quality and performance in everything we produce — from structured wiring to control, to music and movie storage. Now this includes Home Theater and this is just the beginning,” concluded Bob Farinelli.

ELAN is now taking orders for its groundbreaking TheaterPoint Speakers, which will begin shipping in the fourth quarter of 2005. MSRPs of individual speakers range from $300.00 to $700.00 with complete packages ranging in price from $2500.00 to $5500.00.
