Digital Health a Key Focus in 2007 for Leading Research Firm Parks Associates

January 30, 2007 Dallas TX — Parks Associates today launched 2007 Digital Health Service: Analyzing Health and Wellness Markets for Digital Devices and Services, a new research program that will provide ongoing updates and analysis on the emerging digital health market.

Parks Associates, the leading market research and consulting company studying the “digital living” space, initiated coverage of this emerging industry in early 2006, and this new service will continue this research with a free monthly newsletter, a monthly compilation of key industry events, and an extensive client-based program.
Parks Associates envisions pervasive adoption of digital technology in the next five to ten years within the global healthcare system and a drastic transformation of how healthcare services and wellness aids are delivered to consumers.

“The global healthcare industry is struggling to provide high-quality care at a low cost to consumers, and digital technologies will save the day for our healthcare system,” said Harry Wang, research analyst from Parks Associates. “The home will increasingly become an alternative venue for the delivery of a variety of healthcare services, particularly services of a preventive nature, and technology will foster this transformation.”

According to Parks Associates, the total digital home health market in the U.S. will grow at an average annual rate of 36% and turn into a $2.1 billion industry in 2010. The rapid expansion of wellness monitoring programs and online patient-physician messaging services will partly drive this growth. At the same time, affordable broadband technology and networking solutions will provide infrastructure support for digital home health applications and services.

Parks Associates’ 2007 Digital Health Service incorporates a variety of research products throughout the year to provide technology companies and healthcare providers with essential data, analysis, and primary research covering this growing field. In addition, Parks Associates will distribute a free newsletter to subscribers every month.
