Devialet Gemini Wireless Earbuds in Charging Case

Stylish Buds

Devialet, the company known for expensive oval shaped Phantom speakers, has announced their first wireless earbuds called Gemini. Reasonably priced, by Devialet’s standards, at $299 — Gemini brings a lot to the table, including noise-cancellation, touch controls and voice assistant integration with Siri or Google Assistant.

Devialet Gemini Wireless Earbuds Interior View

Gemini’s shape is designed to fit every type of ear. They come with XS/S/M/L eartips for a snug fit along with an app that guides the user which tips fit best. You’ll certainly need a perfect fit and the most finely tuned ears of any of animal on the planet to hear Gemini’s lowest claimed frequency response of 5 Hz. Human hearing just doesn’t extend that low. Not even whales or elephants can hear 5 Hz, which bottom out at 7 Hz and 14 Hz respectively (source Wikipedia). So don’t be fooled by the 5 Hz low frequency spec. It’s either meaningless marketing speak or an error.

Getting back to reality. The Gemini Earbuds are rated IPX4 for water resistance, and claim battery life of 4 to 8 hours, depending how they are used and if noise cancellation (ANC) is on or off. They come with a Qi Wireless / USB-C charging case that fully recharges the earbuds in 1.5 hours. The case itself requires 3.5 hours to fully recharge. So with combined charging/re-charging Devialet claims 24 hours of battery life, since the case can provide three recharges before needing recharging itself. It’s the same type of claim every wireless earbud manufacturer is making nowadays, so watch out for it.

Devialet Gemini Wireless Earbuds

The Devialet Gemini earbuds connect using Bluetooth 5.0 BLE/2.4GHz along with aptX technology (where compatible). Noise cancellation is offered at three different levels: low, high, and plane. Plus, Devialet’s companion mobile app lets users customize sound quality with a 6 band equalizer. The app also can re-configure touch controls. The default settings are Press one time to play or pause, Press and hold to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes, and Double-press to activate Voice Assistant (Siri or Google Assistant).

Price & Availability

The Devialet Gemini True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) will be available November 25, 2020. Pre-order now for $299 at devialet.com.
