Boston Acoustics Introduces E-Series Speakers, New Premier Line for Audiophiles, Installers and Interior Designers

Decorator- and Installer-Friendly Speakers Combine Powerful Home Theater and AV-System Audio with Innovation, Versatility and The Boston Sound

CEDIA EXPO, Indianapolis, Sept. 9, 2005 — Boston Acoustics, Inc., a premier manufacturer of high-performance audio solutions for use in home music and audio/video systems, aftermarket and OEM automotive systems, and custom built-in audio systems, introduces the E-Series High Performance Loudspeakers at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo 2005, beginning here today.

Representing Boston’s new premier line of speakers for Home Theater, stereo and multi-channel listening applications, E-Series models deliver powerful, accurate audio in handsome, decorator-friendly chassis designed with multiple mounting options and installer-friendly features. Among other uses, the speakers perfectly complement plasma and LCD televisions and monitors, DLP rear-projection consoles, and traditional screens.

All E-Series Speakers cabinets are designed to be both decorator- and installer-friendly. Removable side panels allow each speaker to be customized to match any decor the client wishes. The cabinets are constructed using the finest materials — real wood, cast aluminum, 5 mm-thick extruded aluminum, and a sturdy front baffle made of an MDF and aluminum composite cut from a solid piece using a computer-controlled process known as CNC milling.

E-Series cabinets also include Boston’s StabiliTek, an innovative aluminum construction that includes internal ribbing to enhance the speakers’ superb structural integrity, and eliminate the spurious resonances and vibrations that degrade the sound of ordinary speakers.

The series includes five models — the E40 and E60 Bookshelf Speakers, the E50 and E70 LCR (Left, Center, Right) Speakers, ideal for use on bookshelves and stands for front, center and/or right- and left-channel sound; and the flagship E100 High Performance Speaker. The E40 Bookshelf Speaker features a 4-1⁄2-inch woofer and a 1-inch VR aluminum-dome tweeter. The E50 LCR (Left, Center, Right) Speaker features two 4-1⁄2-inch woofers with a 1-inch VR aluminum-dome tweeter in the middle.

The E50 Bookshelf Speaker features a 4-1/2-inch woofer and Boston Acoustics high output 1-inch anodized aluminum VRH.O. tweeter. The E70 features two 5-1/4-inch woofers with a one 1-inch VRH.O. tweeter in the middle. Each E50 and E70 model is designed to be used as a left-, center, or right-channel speaker. The woofers for all the models feature an aluminum basket and a neo magnet structure with 1.5-inch voice coils.

The flagship E100 Speaker, standing an impressive five feet tall, features six 5-1/4-inch woofers, one 5-1/4-inch midrange/woofer, one 3-1/4-inch midrange driver, and one 1-inch VRH.O. tweeter. Powerful neodymium magnets are employed in all woofers used in the Series.

Of course, all E-Series Speakers powerfully present The Boston Sound, an acclaimed feature of Boston Acoustics speaker systems that reproduces music and movie sound with exceptional accuracy. The Boston Sound recreates music and sound effects as artists intend with a pure neutral tonal consistency that remains the same for all Boston Acoustics speakers, including E-Series models, no matter how many are employed, or how variously they are mounted.

All E-Series Speakers cabinets are designed to be both decorator- and installer-friendly. Removable side panels allow each speaker to be customized to match any decor the client wishes. The cabinets are constructed using the finest materials — real wood, cast aluminum and 5 mm-thick extruded aluminum, and a sturdy front baffle made of a unique MDF-aluminum composite. Internal ribbing further enhances the speakers’ superb structural integrity, which eliminates the spurious resonances and vibration that degrade the sound of ordinary speakers.

All E-Series Speakers also feature MagnaGuard magnetic shielding, ensuring the speakers’ magnetic fields will never interfere with any television’s picture, allowing their placement directly next to a TV or monitor in a Home Theater system.

Multiple mounting options are available for all the speakers. All, including the flagship E100, can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The Bookshelf and LCR Speakers can be mounted on the wall, on a shelf, or on attractive accessory stands. Reversible cast end caps on the Bookshelf and LCR models can double as an unobtrusive vertical support. When used as a center channel, a horizontal support allows the LCR speakers to tilt from five degrees downward to 10 degrees upward.

Wall-mounting brackets are supplied with each speaker, and tunnel recesses in the back panels help ‘dress the wire’ and serve as concealments for extra speaker wire. The output terminals are bi-wired and include a loss-proof hex key tucked into each unit. The aluminum grille on each speaker comes off easily and goes back on just as easily.

E-Series Speakers will be available early in 2006, at prices to be determined, from authorized Boston Acoustics dealers. They can be seen with Boston Acoustics’ other outstanding products in Booth 727, Indiana Convention Center, during CEDIA EXPO.
