Dirac has confirmed that its Dirac Live Active Room Treatment, along with Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control, will be integrated into AudioControl’s new Hyperion Series of home theater processors and receivers (license fee required). Aimed at professional calibrators and custom installers, the Hyperion Series is scheduled to launch in Q4 2025.
What Is Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART)?
Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART), launched in 2023, is a professional-grade acoustic solution designed for home theater dealers, custom installers, and professional calibrators. Building on the Dirac Live platform, ART optimizes a room’s existing speakers into a coordinated system that intelligently controls room resonances and significantly enhances bass clarity.
Dirac Live ART converts a system’s existing speakers into an integrated acoustic control network that intelligently manages low-frequency resonances. Using Dirac’s patented MIMO technology, ART significantly reduces decay times and delivers more consistent bass across all listening positions, including in asymmetrical or untreated rooms.
For a deeper dive into Dirac Live Active Room Treatment, see our previously published detailed report.
From Fredric Tapper, Dirac’s Vice President and Head of Business Development: “Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is pushing the boundaries of residential audio performance,…Through our collaboration with AudioControl, we’re bringing this groundbreaking smart acoustics technology to the professional installation community – empowering integrators and calibrators to achieve levels of clarity and control once only possible in studio-grade environments. With Hyperion, customers can now experience the full potential of their home theaters, regardless of space or speaker layout.”
Dirac Live Room Correction fine-tunes both magnitude and phase response to address acoustic challenges that traditional hardware struggles with, without requiring extensive time, expertise, or cost. Dirac Live Bass Control uses machine learning to co-optimize subwoofers and speakers, providing smooth, consistent bass across the entire listening area.
AudioControl Hyperion Product Line Overview
The APR-16 preamp-processor, launching in Q4 2025, will be the first Hyperion model to support Dirac Live Active Room Treatment. Additional Hyperion models, including the RCV-11 AV Receiver and DPR-16 Digital Preamp Processor, will also feature Dirac Live ART when released later in 2025.
Full specifications for the APR-16, RCV-11, and DPR-16 have not been disclosed, but here is an overview of what to expect:
APR-16 Immersive Sound Processor: The APR-16 is a full-featured preamp processor designed for immersive home theater performance. It offers balanced outputs and extensive routing options. With 16-channel processing, the APR-16 delivers elevated sonic performance, reliability, and flexibility, allowing integrators to design custom audio systems without limitations from predefined settings. The unit also includes pro-grade HDMI switching with advanced HDMI management, including built-in EDID and HDCP handling.
RCV-11 11-Channel AVR: The RCV-11 AVR sets a new standard in sonic performance as the first receiver in the Hyperion line to feature GaN amplification. This technology provides high-power output to effortlessly drive demanding speakers, delivering exceptional sound that complements high-resolution visuals. The RCV-11 supports 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setups and other immersive configurations, forming the foundation for premium home theater experiences.
DPR-16 Digital Immersive Processor: The DPR-16 features a fully digital platform that integrates both audio and video processing. It reimagines networked audio by applying advanced LAN concepts to multizone home theater systems. The DPR-16 can distribute 16 channels of audio over a single Ethernet connection and supports eARC, Dante, AES67, and AES/EBU. Designed for future digital connectivity, the DPR-16 remains fully compatible with existing setups.
From Juha Nurminen, Chief Engineering Officer for AVPro: “Hyperion is the ultimate expression of our commitment to sonic excellence,…We designed it specifically for today’s professional integrators and custom installers, who demand flexible, precise solutions that meet the unique needs of each client and environment. With the full Dirac Live suite, including Dirac Live ART, Room Correction, and Bass Control, we’re giving our customers more audio precision, flexibility, and control than ever before.”
The Bottom Line
AudioControl’s Hyperion Series, featuring Dirac Live Active Room Treatment, Room Correction, and Bass Control, brings professional-grade acoustic optimization to custom installers and home theater calibrators. With immersive processing, advanced HDMI management, GaN amplification, and full digital networked audio capabilities, the Hyperion line is designed to deliver precise, high-performance audio in any environment. Launching throughout Q4 2025, these components provide integrators the tools to maximize system performance for demanding clients and complex installations.
