Wireless High-definition Interface(WHDI) Chipset Honored As an Industry-leading Enabling Technology
Santa Clara, Calif. — November 19, 2007 — AMIMON Inc., an emerging leader in semiconductor technology for wireless transmission of high-definition (HD) video, today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in the enabling technologies category. The company was honored for its WHDI (wireless high-definition interface) chipset that enables wireless HDTV and “Wireless for HDMI” applications. Products considered for this distinguished award program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products.
“This prestigious award recognizes the significant contribution of WHDI to the CE industry,” said Noam Geri, vice president of marketing and business development at AMIMON. “This honor comes at a great time, as new products based on our technology are about to revolutionize the digital home.”
AMIMON’s WHDI technology is based on a unique video modem approach. WHDI allows wireless delivery of uncompressed 1080p (video rate: 3Gbps) and 720p/1080i (video rate: 1.5Gbps) video throughout the entire home.
The WHDI chipset (AMN2110 and AMN2210) enables CE display and device manufacturers to develop home entertainment products that connect wirelessly. It can be embedded into CE devices such as LCD and plasma HDTVs (wireless HDTV), multimedia projectors, A/V receivers, DVD players (HD-DVD and Blu-ray), set-top boxes (STBs), game consoles, PCs and HD video accessories (wireless for HDMI dongles), allowing wireless streaming of uncompressed HD video and audio.
AMIMON will demonstrate its WHDI technology at the 2008 International CES event, which runs January 7-10, 2008 in Las Vegas. To coordinate a demonstration at AMIMON’s hospitality suite (Hilton Suite No. 23117), e-mail ces2008@amimon.com.
Also, the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at CES will feature AMIMON’s WHDI chipset in the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Innovations Plus, Booth No. 70621.
