Alienware Sets New Industry High for Notebook Hard Drive Space Offering up to 640GB Hard Drive Capacity by Being First to Market with Single and Dual Samsung 320GB Hard Drives

To give mobile enthusiasts more hard drive space than ever before, Alienware – the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook and professional systems – is first to market with single and dual Samsung 320GB hard drive configurations in RAID 0 and RAID 1 in the 17″ Area-51 m9750 and Aurora™ m9700 notebooks, as well as a single Samsung 320GB configuration in the 15.4″ Area-51 m5550 notebook. The Area-51 m9750 and Aurora m9700 are the industry’s first mobile systems to provide up to 640GB of hard drive space, while the Area-51 m9750 is the first to offer the combination of a 320GB hard drive and a 64GB solid state drive. As a result, Area-51 m9750 users can enjoy the best possible options in multiple hard drive formats.

“Hard drive technologies for notebooks have advanced rapidly in 2007, and Alienware has led the charge every step of the way,” said Bryan de Zayas, Associate Director of Product Marketing at Alienware. “By being the first manufacturer to introduce notebooks featuring Samsung 320GB hard drives, 64GB solid state drives and a combination of both, Alienware’s ongoing commitment to consumer satisfaction and cutting-edge excellence is unmistakable.”

Area-51 m9750 and Aurora m9700 notebooks equipped with 640GB of hard drive space open up a vast array of options for storing large amounts of multimedia content and other data. For example, users can load their notebooks with:

  • Up to 107 games (6GB per game).
  • Up to 160 movies (4GB per movie).
  • Up to 163,000 songs or audio files (4MB per song), making it possible to listen to continuous, non-repeating music for an incredible 679 days straight.
