Yamaha Releases DTS:X Firmware Update for Receivers & Preamp

DTS-X Logo

Yamaha today released a DTS:X firmware update for their flagship 2015 model year A/V receivers and home theater preamplifier. The upgradable components include the CX-A5100 AV preamp processor, and the AVENTAGE RX-A3050, RX-A2050 and RX-A1050 AV receivers, all of which currently only supported Dolby Atmos.

DTS:X and Dolby Atmos are both object-based surround formats that place and move sounds freely in a three-dimensional axis, including overhead, as movie mixing engineers intended. These new sound technologies are designed to engage the audience by creating realism through a lifelike multidimensional audio experience.

With the CX-A5100, Yamaha enables CINEMA DSP (a proprietary sound field processor) to be applied to both DTS:X and Dolby Atmos during playback. By applying CINEMA DSP, the user will be immersed even further and feel as if they are right in the middle of the scene.

Yamaha’s flagship 9.2-channel AVENTAGE RX-A3050 A/V receiver provides expandability to 11.2 channels and also features Yamaha’s proprietary CINEMA DSP technology that recreates immersive surround sound experiences. In addition, the RX-A3050 is equipped with an ultra-high performance ESS Technology 192 kHz/32-bit SABRE32i Ultra DAC for the seven main channels as well as a SABRE Premier Audio DAC for the presence channels, to reproduce an incredible sound stage with high dynamic range that provides super low distortion and noise levels. The RX-A2050 integrates two ESS Technology SABRE Premier Audio DACs for exceptional sound quality, while the RX-A1050 uses one.
