KEF Warns of Price Increases So You Might Want to Buy Some Speakers Now

Global tariffs are still a mess, and the fallout is hitting the audio world like a bad remaster. As bureaucrats fumble trade policies and shipping costs yo-yo like a worn-out cassette deck, audio brands are left scrambling. The bottom line? Prices are going up—again. We’ve already seen FiiO and Anker brace for impact, and now KEF America is stepping into the ring with its own round of price hikes. Welcome to 2025, where even your speakers aren’t safe from global economic whiplash.

The British loudspeaker manufacturer, KEF, produces a significant portion of its lineup in Asia—including several popular models made in China. And thanks to the ongoing tariff circus, products coming out of China are still getting slapped with steep import duties. In response, KEF America has issued a formal statement explaining that, due to these increased costs, price adjustments across much of their catalog are unavoidable. It’s not a move they wanted to make—but in this economic climate, passing some of the burden down the line to consumers is their only option.

For more than six decades, every KEF loudspeaker comes to life at our acoustic engineering headquarters in Maidstone, Kent, England. From the first Uni-Q™ driver in 1988, to the recent breakthrough of Metamaterial Absorption Technology, our team’s obsession is simple: let you hear music exactly as the artist intended.

That relentless pursuit of perfection demands continuous investment in premium components, state-of-the-art tooling, and the master craftspeople who build each product to our high standards. In the past year, the cost of those ingredients has risen sharply across the global supply chain, including tariff increases. Rather than compromise on performance or longevity, we will be implementing a modest price adjustment on 5 May 2025.

We’re telling you now so you have ample time to secure current pricing. Orders placed on kef.com or through any authorized KEF retailer before 3:00 a.m. ET on 5 May 2025 will be honored at today’s prices.

The KEF LSX II LT is a streamlined version of the LSX II, offering the same size and drivers for $300 less. It requires a tethered inter-speaker cable, but only one power connection, as the main speaker powers the secondary.

LS50 Wireless II

The KEF LS50 Wireless II features advanced DSP, a 100W class A/B amp for the tweeter, and a 280W class D amp for the mid/bass driver. The left and right speakers connect wirelessly, offering a clean, flexible setup.

With the KEF Connect app (iOS, Android) users can stream TIDAL, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, Internet Radio stations, and podcasts, and you can stream directly from the app with Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and Google Chromecast can connect your compatible Apple or Android device, while Bluetooth expands the options even further.

The primary speaker handles all physical inputs and streaming access, while sending audio to the secondary speaker via Ethernet cable. With 1400 watts of total system power—dedicated amps for bass, mids, and highs—it also includes a subwoofer output for added low-end extension.

The Q-Series is KEFs entry level speaker line but offers up a lot of KEF technology.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which has been incorporated into KEF’s higher-end speaker lines, is also incorporated into the Q Series Meta. This technology eliminates 99% of high-frequency distortion for pure, natural sound.

The speakers employ KEF’s 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array. Using a complex maze structure, MAT efficiently absorbs a specific frequency via each channel in the maze. When all the channels in the maze are combined, they act as an acoustic black hole, resulting in a more natural listening experience.

KC92

The KC92 is KEF’s top-line compact subwoofer. For optimized bass performance, the KC92 subwoofer incorporates a dual driver arrangement mounted in a force-canceling (Uni-Core) assembly. The drivers’ output sound from the sides of the cabinet, rather than from the front. This configuration allows the KC92 to deliver greater extension and impact and from a design that is smaller than similar models in its price range and size.

Kube MIE Series Subwoofers
