XL TV Deals: Samsung Cuts Prices on 98-inch QLED TVs and 83-inch OLED

The number 1 TV maker just made their extra large TVs a lot more affordable.

Samsung QN90D MiniLED TV - 98 inch

Leading up to the Independence Day holiday in the US, Samsung is slashing the prices of several of their extra large TVs including three 98-inch LED and QLED TVs starting at $3499 as well as their 83-inch S90C OLED TV for $2999 (update: the 83-inch OLED is now $2749.99 on Amazon).

Not to be outsold by rival TCL in the extra large 98-inch TV market, Samsung is now offering their 98-inch DU9000 Crystal LED UHD TV for $3,499 ($500 off). Bigger discounts are available on their 98-inch Q80C from 2023 for $5999 (save $2,000) and flagship QN90D MiniLED TV for $12,999 (Save $2,000).

In fact, if you buy the Q80C, they’ll pay you to take a Samsung Dolby Atmos-compatible soundbar with the TV. The price of the Q80C TV/QS730D soundbar bundle is about $450 less than the price of the TV alone ($5,545.98 compared to $5999.99) so you save a whopping $3,250 on that bundle. Either of the Q Series soundbars ends up being better than free if you go with one of the bundles.

The deals are available on Amazon and other select authorized Samsung dealers. Prices are as of July 1, 2024 and are subject to change.

Tip: The model numbers ending in “C” are 2023 models; “D” are 2024 models.

Samsung is currently the number one TV maker worldwide for a reason. Their LED and QLED TVs offer exceptional brightness, accurate colors and a robust Smart TV platform with access to all of the top streaming services. All three of the 98-inch models on sale support Samsung’s Q-Symphony feature which allows you to combine the TV’s built-in speakers with those of a Samsung soundbar for a more immersive and expansive surround sound stage. All three also offer 4K resolution and native 120Hz panels for excellent motion reproduction.

The DU9000 TV offers a standard backlight but uses “UHD Dimming” to enhance brightness and contrast. The step-up Q80C model from 2023 adds quantum dot color processing for enhanced color volume as well as “Supreme UHD” dimming (local dimming) to enhance contrast and shadow detail without excessive haloing around bright images.

If you bundle a Samsung soundbar with their S80C QLED TV you can get an even better deal.

In addition to quantum dot color, the flagship QN90D model from 2024 offers exceptional peak brightness and contrast thanks to its MiniLED backlighting system with Ultimate UHD Dimming for precise control of the backlight array. Its NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor improves contrast, shadow detail, and color accuracy and Samsung’s “Real Depth Enhancer Pro” increases foreground contrast to make content feel more lifelike. 4K AI Upscaling enhances standard definition and high-definition video signals for optimized reproduction on the set’s native 4K panel.

Save $2400 (or more) on Samsung’s 83-inch OLED TV

For those who prefer the deep dark black levels of an OLED TV, but still want an extra large set, you can score a deal on Samsung’s 83-inch S90C. It’s currently $2999.99 on Best Buy and other sites, for a savings of $2400. Amazon has it for even less ($2749.99) with free delivery.

Those looking for an extra large OLED TV will find Samsung’s 83-inch S90C OLED 4K TV hard to resist at $2749.99 (Save $2650).

Videophiles and hobbyists love OLED’s color saturation, contrast and deep blacks. OLED TVs can’t quite reach the peak bright levels of an LED TV, but in a light-controlled environment like a home theater, OLED TVs are hard to beat. Samsung’s S90C OLED is a smart TV built on Samsung’s own Tizen OS, with access to all the top streaming apps and smart home services.
