New Big-Screen TVs Represent the Peak of Proton’s Search for Perfection — Top Picture Quality Refined by HDMI and Exclusive Processing Technology
CES ’06, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2006 — Proton Electronic Industrial Co., a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, superbly engineered digital TVs, LCD TVs and HDTV products, introduces three premium Puriti High-Definition LCD Televisions boasting 55-inch, 47-inch and 42-inch screens at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show.
The 55- and 47-inch Puriti LCD TVs and 42-inch LX- 42A6C2(B) LCD TV are the leading edge of proton’s re-entry into the North American market. The TVs are premium displays that offer dealers and consumers alike the benefits of a unique high-quality viewing experience, not the least of which is a level of visceral, visual entertainment that stands above the rest.
The big-screen Puritis are thin, elegant, high-definition displays that deliver bright, vivid, accurate colors with rich contrasts, a broad viewing stage, and HDMI inputs in the larger models. Using exclusive Puriti video processing technology developed and refined over many years by the company’s award-winning engineers, the TVs deliver reference standard picture quality.
These are images with pure blacks and whites, true-to-life-flesh tones, the widest range of colors, screens bright enough for great viewing even in daylight, the fastest refresh rates for crystal clear fast-motion scenes, and the widest viewing angles for the most flexibility in placement and seating. Their thin profiles and sleek styling make them an ideal fit with the most sophisticated interior decor for high-definition viewing.
All three are equipped with ATSC and NTSC tuners, and Puriti 5.0, the fifth generation of Proton’s exclusive viewing technology. The sum of decades of effort devoted to creating a unique, high quality viewer experience, Puriti represents Proton’s relentless pursuit of pure and natural picture quality.
The 55-, 47- and 42-inch LCD TVs are formatted for 1080i resolution, and also support the 1080p format, as demonstrated by the 55-inch LCD TV being exhibited at CES. In addition to the 1080i models, Proton will offer a limited number of the still higher-end 1080p models on special order through selected distribution channels.
The three big-screen Puriti LCD TVs are part of a broader line Proton is introducing that includes the new 37-inch LX-37A6C2(B), and new 32-inch LC-32B6C2(B) LCD TVs.
The Puriti Advantage
Puriti-enhanced LCDs possess a wider color range than conventional LCD or CRT displays. A built-in artificial intelligence system called Puritintelligence analyzes color frequencies and intensity to assure the screen displays the most natural skin tones possible, and creates the best blacks by automatically compensating for picture detail lost due to poor contrast.
Among its many refinements, Puriti processing converts analog signals to a pure digital format, while filtering out noise artifacts. It delivers extraordinarily broad horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 176 degrees, enabling viewers to sit almost anywhere and enjoy a crisp, clear picture. Its 3D De-interlacing and Edge Enhancement capabilities eliminate jagged edges from conventional interlaced video formats, providing smooth edges for moving objects. Its speedy refresh rate empowers LCD panels with the fastest response time in the industry, virtually eliminating delay or ghosting effects.
Energy efficient, thanks to advanced lamp technology, Puriti processing also delivers the brightest LCD images in the market for vivid color even in a brightly lit room, and extremely high contrast ratios for rich color representation.
Handsomely styled, Proton’s largest and next-largest new LCD TVs boast giant 55-inch and 47-inch anti-glare screens. The 47-inch Puriti, which will be available first, features progressive scanning, superb image quality and color purity, a true 16:9 aspect ratio with screen size adjustments to accommodate multiple video sources, and resolution formats of 480i, 480p, 1080i and 720p.
It comes equipped with NTSC and ATSC tuners and numerous video enhancements, including two HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) inputs that permit uncompressed digital video transmissions between the Puriti TV and HDMI-compatible source and processor components. Using a single, simple, user-friendly cable, the HDMI protocol supports standard, enhanced and high-definition digital video, and transmits all ATSC and HDTV standards with bandwidth to spare.
Video refinements also include a Motion Lagging Correction Engine for seamlessly smooth screen action, 3D Color Management, 3-2 Pull Down to accurately convert and display content originally shot for film, adjustable color temperature, two HDMI inputs, and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-on-Picture functions.
Proton’s LX-42A6C2(B) LCD TV features a generous 42-inch anti-glare screen, progressive scanning, superb image quality and color purity, a 16:9 aspect ratio with 4:3 aspect ratio correction, and resolution formats of 480i, 480p, 1080i and 720p. It comes equipped with NTSC and ATSC tuners and numerous video enhancements, including one HDMI input, a Motion Lagging Correction Engine, 3D Color Management, 3-2 Pull Down, adjustable color temperature, and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-on-Picture functions. Two HDMI inputs, surround sound circuitry, and two 30-watt speakers are also included.
Proton’s 55-inch and 47-inch Puriti LCD TVs, due in Second Quarter 2006, and the 42-inch LX-42A6C2(B), due in First Quarter 2006, will be available from authorized Proton dealers at suggested prices still to be determined.
