HAI Now Shipping Access Control Product Line

HAI (Home Automation, Inc.), leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, is now shipping a new line of Access Control products to complement its award-winning home control systems.

The new Access Control product line consists of a proximity card reader (HAI part number 75A00-1) and accessories that connect to an HAI Home Control System. Up to 16 readers can be connected to a serial port on HAI OmniPro II and Lumina Pro controllers. Omni II, Omni IIe, and Lumina controllers allow up to 4 readers. The reader incorporates an input for a push to exit button and an output for an electric door strike or magnetic lock. It can be mounted to a door frame or to any flat wall surface and has simplified wiring for residential or small commercial use — everything between the controller and the readers goes over a single 4 conductor or Cat5 wire, including power. The row of two-color (green and red) LED indicators and piezo sounder on the reader provides card validation and system status to the user.

Either a standard credit card sized Access Control Card (HAI part number 78A00-1) or the convenient Access Control Key Tag (HAI part number 78A00-2) can be used to access the system. Each card is attached to a user code in the HAI Omni or Lumina family controller which can be managed with specific privileges. Users can be granted privileges based on time of day and day of week, and access can be restricted to specific readers.

Included in the Access Control product line is an Electric Door Strike (HAI part number 79A00-1) to securely lock and unlock a door without the need of a key. It allows the door to be locked when closed, but can be automatically unlocked by the system, or manually unlocked with a key.

Also available is the HAI Power Hub (HAI part number 83A00-1) which is a battery backed power supply that connects up to 8 Access Control Readers to the HAI controller. It has convenient connections and power terminals for a neat installation. It is designed to eliminate unsightly transformers, power strips, external power supplies, battery backup units, and complex wiring normally associated with access control installations. Two of the Power Hubs may be connected together to connect up 16 readers to an OmniPro II or Lumina Pro system.

HAI Access Control cards can also be tied in to any home automation functions that the HAI Omni or Lumina family controller is capable of including lighting, energy management, surveillance, and audio. For example: swiping a card can disarm the alarm, release the door lock, light a pathway into the house, change the temperature, and turn on several zones of a whole home audio system, and select their volume and source. Each swipe can perform as many actions as desired and these results can be customized by time of day, arming condition, or any other event the HAI home control system is monitoring. Because each card or key tag is tied to a specific user, all of the actions can also be customized for each individual user.

All products in HAI’s Access Control line are available through a worldwide network of Distributors and installing dealers in over 35 countries. For more information please visit www.homeauto.com or call 800-229-7256.
