CEDIA Booth: 8
WOODLAND HILLS, CA – For years Gefen has been extending high definition digital video hundreds of feet beyond its 3-meter specification. With its new ex-tend-it DVI RS-232 Extender, available at CEDIA, Gefen ups the bonus features and capabilities even more.
First, it sends high definition DVI video up to 30-meters to an extended display over industry-standard CAT-5 cables, cutting the cost of long cable runs. It also enables standard in-home wiring to be tapped into for HD home automation systems.
Secondly, it offers RS-232 inputs/outputs that support the remote control of HD extended video. It sustains HDTV resolutions up to 1080p or 1920×1200 for computers, and supports HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection)
compliant devices with its sender and receiver format.
Gefen’s DVI RS-232 Extender still retains the system sleekness that takes up little space behind the scenes. Sender and receiver are small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, and link local and remote components with two CAT-5 cables. RS-232 signals are sent over the same cables.
The DVI RS-232 Extender (MSRP $599), supports HDMI sources and displays with an optional adapter from Gefen. Detailed information may be found online at Gefen.com where products may be purchased.
