Corel Announces DVD Copy 6 Plus

Newest Release from Company’s Digital Media Portfolio Makes it Fast and Easy for Consumers to Copy Unencrypted DVDs and Convert Videos for Playback on the Latest Mobile Devices including the new Apple iPhone.

Ottawa, Canada — November 6, 2007 — Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CREL; TSX:CRE), a leading developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, today announced DVD Copy 6 Plus, a new integrated software suite designed to enable consumers to enjoy their favorite video content at home or on-the-go. With DVD Copy 6 Plus, consumers have a single, easy-to-use solution for copying unencrypted DVDs and converting videos for playback on PCs, home theaters and the latest mobile devices, including the new Apple iPhone. The suite offers a host of new features and innovations that make it the best choice for duplicating, converting, sharing and protecting unencrypted video files.

With DVD Copy 6 Plus, consumers can copy DVDs and convert video in three simple steps. Converted videos can be shared on the Web, emailed or sent to an iPhone, iPod, PSP, Zune, or Nintendo DS as well as a variety of PDAs and mobile phones. Users can even send video directly to an iPod or PSP without any intermediate steps.

“New compression technologies and HD standards have made it possible to enjoy high-quality video on compact mobile devices, but the quantity of video content available is limited and expensive,” said Jeff Hastings, President and General Manager, Corel Digital Media. “Consumers want an easy way to enjoy their own recorded TV programs and videos wherever they go. Corel is responding with the development of DVD Copy 6 Plus – a simple copy and conversion solution that works with the industry’s broadest range of formats and creates videos that can be enjoyed on all of the leading players and mobile devices.”

Offering more conversion options than any other application of its kind, DVD Copy 6 Plus now supports:
DivX Ultra — Import and create high-definition DivX video files with frame sizes up to 1440×1080
XVid — Convert to the popular P2P format
H.264 HD — Save disc space while maintaining high quality
MPEG-2 HD — Convert video to HDTV format for playing on a home theater system

TiVo — Convert TiVo Series 2-recorded files to a DVD disc or mobile device

DVD Copy 6 Plus also supports AVCHD and HDV, including direct import from the latest AVCHD camcorders.

For added convenience, DVD Copy 6 Plus now includes CopyLater technology which enables users to schedule uninterrupted batch conversion of videos when they are away from the PC or overnight. Or, with the Intelligent Folder Monitoring tool, videos can be automatically converted as they arrive. DVD Copy 6 Plus can even automatically calculate the best audio and video bit-rate settings to save space and can schedule transfers to the user’s portable devices at specified times.

Corel rounds out its new copy and conversion software suite with several bonus applications including WinDVD 8 Silver, the world’s # 1 video and DVD playback software. The Virtual Drive Tool can be used to create virtual drives and to mount images to those drives. To help users personalize their DVDs, DVD Copy 6 Plus also features Disc Label – the industry’s most advanced disc labeling software with LightScribe support.

For consumers who only need backup and copying capabilities, Corel also today announced DVD Copy 6, the latest standard version for copying DVD videos and creating personalized DVDs and DivX discs. A starter version of DVD Copy 6 for OEM bundling is also available. All three versions are fully certified for Windows Vista. Also certified for the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, DVD Copy 6 products are optimized for faster copying and conversion on the new Intel processors.

“One of the constant complaints from users of portable multi-media devices is the lack of video content for them,” said Rob Enderle, Principal Analyst for the Enderle Group. “While there is lots of content, getting it to work on these devices can be incredibly painful because it seldom is in the right format for the device. Corel’s DVD Copy 6 addresses this need with the broadest support for video formats and, because transcoding is incredibly resource intensive, offers the unique and very attractive ability to time delay the transcoding process”.
