The custom-designed 12-volt DC-powered ZVOX 408 system delivers big, lifelike sound from a compact single enclosure
June 1, 2008 — Swampscott, MA Rail travelers taking the new Tangula Luxury Trains in China will experience all the amenities of a five star hotel in their private suites — including flat-screen TV and a high-performance virtual surround sound system from ZVOX Audio, along with either full-sized or dual twin beds, en suite bathroom with shower, and 24 hour butler service.
“Each suite in a Tangula train conveys sheer luxury with contemporary designs that feature soft leathers, rich woods and exotic stones,” said Terence Ronson, Managing Director of Pertlink — the IT Consultants for Tangula. “We needed to find an exceptional audio solution that would match the quality of the train design, both in sound and appearance. ZVOX has achieved that for us.”
Working closely with the train’s design team, ZVOX has created a custom-made system–Model 408–measuring 45cm x 16cm x 17cm, that fits into the limited space set aside for audio in each Tangula suite. ZVOX’s proprietary PhaseCue technology allows the system to produce virtual surround sound from a single cabinet, and a built-in subwoofer generates realistic bass output. Like all ZVOX Hospitality Series audio systems, start-up volume, maximum volume and maximum bass limits can be programmed by management to prevent noise complaints from neighboring guests.
“Dealing with extremely high altitudes and sourcing power from the train’s onboard 12-volt electrical system presented some interesting challenges,” commented ZVOX President Tom Hannaher. “But the 408 looks great, sounds great and works well within the complicated environment of a high-altitude train.”
Tangula Luxury Trains will commence journeys through the western regions of China in September, 2008.
