XGIMI Announces HORIZON Ultra 4K UHD Projector with Dolby Vision

With support for Dolby Vision, UHD 4K, and some rather unique setup features, the XGIMI HORIZON Ultra 4K Projector looks like a great option for backyard theaters and smaller rooms.

XGIMI Horizon Ultra 4K Projector

Building on its success in the UST and portable video projector categories, XGIMI has announced the HORIZON Ultra which supports UHD 4K, Dolby Vision, and offers advanced setup features making it a rather compelling option for those looking for a high-end outdoor projector.

The XGIMI HORIZON Ultra was a recent recipient of the 2023-2024 EISA Award in the projector category against some rather stiff competition.

Features

Product Design: The HORIZON Ultra features a unique cube-like minimalist design that makes it easier to setup on a coffee table or media unit. It also weighs 11.5 pounds and is less than 9 inches tall. The weight and industrial design make it easier to move and we suspect that it will become popular with families who desire a portable projector for the backyard or cottage.

Display Technology: The HORIZON Ultra achieves 4K UHD Resolution resolution via pixel shifting (supported by a .47-inch DLP imaging chip) and a light output rating of 2300 ISO lumens (via 25,000 use hour rated Dual LED/Laser light source). HDR (HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision) support and both 2D and 3D viewing options are included (glasses require optional purchase).

XGIMI Horizon Ultra Lens

Tip: The XGIMI HORIZON Ultra is the first long-throw projector that supports Dolby Vision HDR

Portability: The HORIZON Ultra can be moved and placed in any room of the house or used outdoors. Traditional projectors have to be set up again and adjusted at each new location which is time-consuming and inconvenient. However, XGIMI has come up with a creative solution which is discussed in the next section..

ISA 3.0 (Intelligent Screen Adaptation): Builds on their current ISA (Intelligent Screen Adaption) technology, which includes Autofocus, Automatic Vertical Keystone Correction, Obstacle Avoidance, and Intelligent Screen Alignment.

XGIMI includes Dynamic Iris, Dynamic Color, Seamless Auto Keystone Correction, Seamless Auto Focus, Intelligent Eye Protection, and Wall Color Adaption in the 3.0 version.

XGIMI Wall Color Adaption

Wall color adaption means that you can project on a wall (no screen required) and the projector will compensate for the wall color (in most cases).

Tip: Most ISA functions take place without interrupting projection which is great as it doesn’t impair the viewing experience while being noticeably faster and more accurate than previous versions. Intelligent focusing and stabilization occur automatically and are unnoticed by the user.

Screen Size: The HORIZON Ultra can project an image as large as 200 inches. The complete size range is 40 to 200 inches.
