ViewSonic Delivers Faster and More Affordable LCDs

Gamers and Digital Entertainment Enthusiasts to Benefit from Industry Leading 8ms Response Times and Lower Prices

ViewSonic today brings more value to customers by significantly accelerating performance with industry leading response times, while lowering prices on three of its popular ThinEdge LCD monitors. To achieve ClearMotiv response times as low as 8ms, the company has developed and added technologies that enhance the speeds of its 19-inch VP191b and 17-inch VP171b and VP171s, making them well suited for motion-intensive applications such as gaming, digital video and web editing.

“Digital entertainment enthusiasts have been hesitant to make the switch from CRT to LCD primarily because of two factors: response time and cost,” said Erik Willey, senior product manager, ViewSonic. “ViewSonic is continuing to make LCDs more attractive by increasing performance and decreasing prices.”

The VP191b achieves an improved ClearMotiv 8ms gray-to-gray video response time using ViewSonic’s Amplified Impulse technology that provides smoother, faster image transitions. Since the majority of video transitions on games and digital entertainment are gray-to-gray, an increased gray scale response time produces superior front-of-screen performance for motion video. The display offers the same exceptional clarity and vibrant images that customers have come to expect with its 1280×1024 native resolution, higher 800:1 (typ) contrast ratio and OptiSync dual input technology that supports digital (DVI) and two analog (VGA) signals. The improved VP191b will be available in February through authorized ViewSonic resellers, distributors and mail order outlets for an estimated street price (ESP) of $549.

ViewSonic also has enhanced its 17-inch ThinEdge LCDs, the VP171b and VP171s, with ultra-fast ClearMotiv 8ms black-to-white video response times through the company’s Dynamic Structure technology, which accelerates video response to support rates up to 125 frames per second. Providing 300 (typ) nits of brightness, 1280×1024 native resolution and 500:1 (typ) contrast ratio, along with an ESP of $389, these economical LCDs deliver exceptional front-of-screen performance. Available now, the silver VP171s can be purchased at various retail outlets, while the black VP171b is sold through authorized ViewSonic resellers, distributors and mail order outlets.

ViewSonic’s ThinEdge Series offers multiple display configuration options with narrow one-half inch bezels and the ability to support extensive tiling and stacking combinations. These options satisfy growing demand for multiplayer gaming environments and large-screen viewing by increasing the user’s screen work area exponentially. User ergonomic needs also are satisfied in additional features such as height, tilt, swivel and portrait functions.

Compliant with the strictest safety and environmental standards, including TCO, the VP191b, VP171b and VP171s are backed by a three-year limited warranty on parts, labor and backlight, and are eligible for ViewSonic’s optional Express Exchange program, which guarantees a replacement monitor within 48 hours, where service is available. ViewSonic offers 24-hour, toll-free technical support, seven days a week, excluding major U.S. holidays.
