Velodyne Joins Crestrons Integrated Partner Program

– Crestron Certified Control Module Integrates with Digital Drive Subwoofers –

Morgan Hill, CA (November 15, 2004) — Velodyne Acoustics, Inc. the world’s leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, today announced its membership in the Crestron Integrated Partner Program and the availability of a Crestron touchpanel user interface to control its line of Digital Drive subwoofers. The module allows seamless integration of a Digital Drive subwoofer into a Crestron system environment.

All Digital Drive functions have been incorporated in Crestron’s module whether using IR or two way RS-232 control including presets for action/adventure, movies, pop/rock, jazz/classical, custom and an EQ defeat. In addition, discreet codes for power, mute, light, and night mode have been added to the module.

“Velodyne products are used on a regular basis by our dealers,” said Chris Wildfoerster, Director, Market Development for Crestron. “Their Digital Drive Series subwoofers are the first to offer our dealers complete bi-directional RS-232 control and we are proud they chose Crestron to introduce this capability to the market and demonstrate it in their booth at CEDIA.”

The Digital Drive Series, featuring 18″, 15″, 12″ and 10″ custom-designed drivers, are all-digital, high gain servo subwoofers. These DSP-based subwoofers are powered by Velodyne’s patented 1250-watt RMS Energy Recovery System (ERS) switching amplifier and the first subwoofers to incorporate Velodyne’s patent pending Digital Drive room equalization system. The Crestron module will also control the Digital Drive 1812 Signature Edition subwoofer.

“As home theater installations become increasingly complex, the control interface becomes extremely important,” said Bruce Hall, President of Velodyne. “Digital Drive subwoofers have an unprecedented ability to adapt to the user’s room anomalies, listening tastes and source material. Our partnership with Crestron assures that consumers will be able to obtain the maximum performance and ease-of-use from our Digital Drive subwoofers in even the most sophisticated installation and also provide new opportunities for custom installers.”
