Tripp Lite Broadens IP Remote Access KVM Switch Lineup for Improved Network Access and Management

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chicago, IL (May 8, 2008)–Tripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of power protection and connectivity equipment, has introduced the B072-016-1-IP, its newest 16-Port NetCommander 1U Rackmount Cat5 KVM Switch, featuring on-board IP remote access, giving users the ability to access and manage server components remotely via the Internet.

“Our first IP remote access KVM switch was such a hit, we decided to expand the lineup by introducing the B072-016-1-IP,” said David Posner, Tripp Lite’s Director of Product Marketing for Connectivity Products. “Administrators can remotely perform system administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, installing or running applications, rebooting and more simply with an Internet connection, even if the network is down. Plus, as networks expand, users can easily increase PC control with inexpensive Cat5 patch cables.”

The B072-016-1-IP is the next generation of Tripp Lite’s cost-effective, feature-rich KVM switch offering. Its sleek, 1U design and compact size features RJ45 connection ports that utilize inexpensive Cat5 patch cables, reducing the amount of cable clutter normally found with traditional KVM cabling. Its built-in IP remote access gives users the ability to log in from anywhere via the Internet. The B072-016-1-IP allows multiple simultaneous users to view remote sessions. Users can easily switch between CPUs with hot key commands, the built-in On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or the remote console toolbar. Cascadability allows connection to up to 256 computers.

This new KVM Switch provides advanced security features, such as password protection and advanced encryption technologies, including 128-bit SSL and HTTPS and authentication for remote users. Installation is quick and easy and requires no special software. Hot-pluggable operation allows the addition or removal of PCs or servers without the need to power down the unit. A built-in firmware port allows upgrades from the administrator’s computer to the KVM Switch. The B072-016-1-IP is compatible with PS/2 and USB computers, VGA, SVGA or XGA monitors, as well as the following OS platforms: DOS, Windows (all versions), LINUX, UNIX, HP UX and SUN.
