Total BlindZoneManagement By Magna Gives Drivers a Complete Field-of-View

LAS VEGAS, January 8, 2007 -Magna International, the most diversified automotive supplier in the world, introduces Total BlindZoneManagement™ (TBZM)™. TBZM makes driving safer and more convenient by reducing blind zones all around a vehicle.

Blind zones around cars, trucks and SUVs pose a serious danger, causing more than 500,000 accidents, injuries or deaths each year. By combining camera technology, enhanced mirrors and lighting, blind zones around the vehicle are reduced, whether reversing or changing lanes.
“Our goal has always been to improve drivers’ safety, comfort and convenience,” says Carlos Mazzorin, president of Magna International’s Electronics Group. “Our Total BlindZoneManagement expands the vehicle’s field-of-view to make driving easier.”

TBZM is a complete package, which includes:

-ReversAid™ Rear Camera Systems. When the driver shifts into reverse, a Magna ReversAid camera displays a wide-angle image of the blind zone behind the vehicle. For eye-level convenience, the image can appear within the inside rear view mirror using a through-the-glass display or a patented slide-out LCD screen that retracts into the mirror housing when not in use. ReversAid is also available with integrated graphic overlays to assist with parking.

-BlindZoneMirror™. A small convex mirror is integrated into the reflective surface of the driver’s side mirror to virtually eliminate the side blind zone, which makes changing lanes or merging easier.

-BabyVue™. Like having eyes in the back of their head! Drivers can see their infants and toddlers in rear car seats as a camera provides their image in the rearview mirror or elsewhere in the vehicle.

-CornerVue™ Camera technology integrated into the front bumpers lets drivers virtually “see around the corners.” Designed primarily for crowded urban conditions, CornerVue makes it easier to pull into the street from narrow driveways or alleys.

-Predictive front lighting. Blind zones are illuminated as headlights anticipate and respond to curves in the road for nighttime driving. Headlights also switch automatically between high and low beams in response to oncoming and preceding traffic.

TBZM solutions can be combined to create customized systems for all vehicles – from large SUVs to small sedans – through the automotive aftermarket and in select auto dealerships. For more information, please visit www.magnadon.com.
