At Infocomm 2024, Theory Audio Design introduced its first Landscape Speaker line in a Bollard design. New models include the ic6-Bollard Speaker and the iws12-Bollard Subwoofer.
ic6-Bollard Landscape Speaker
The ic6-Bollard incorporates the already available iC6 6.5-inch Full-Range Loudspeaker that Theory Audio has used in pendant housings, open-ceiling, and all-weather grill form factors.
Using extra processing and computer-optimized tuned ports, the ic6 is designed to deliver excellent low-frequency bandwidth, punch, and resolution, plus extremely wide dispersion.
Building on Theory’s ic6 Acoustic Core™ platform, the ic6 loudspeaker is incorporated into a Dark Chocolate (and paintable) stainless steel Bollard housing. Once integrated, the ic6-Bollard becomes a full-range landscape loudspeaker providing 360 degrees of flawless, uniform, coverage.
For larger distributed installations, Theory Audio claims that hundreds of ic6-Bollard loudspeakers can be used. The ic6 includes a switch-selectable 70V/100v transformer that can be driven by Theory’s DLC-250.4d 4-channel loudspeaker controller. The DLC-250.4d can drive up to 16 Theory 16-ohm loudspeakers in Lo-Z mode, or up to 64 in Hi-Z mode from a half-rack chassis.
iws12-Bollard Landscape Subwoofer
Theory is also known for delivering deep bass from compact enclosures. The Theory iws12-SPKR model speaker assembly includes a 12-inch, 1,400 Watt, 4-inch voice coil long-throw woofer that has been previously integrated into the popular Theory iws12-6 in-wall subwoofer and the highly flexible Theory iws12-9 architectural subwoofer.
With the introduction of the iws12-Bollard, superior iws12-SPKR performance can be enjoyed outdoors. When mounted inside the new iws12-Bollard housing and installed outdoors high-energy low frequencies will fill your landscape.

Initial Impressions
Theory Audio Design has quietly been outfitting some of the finest homes and private screening rooms since 2018. We’d expect their outdoor speaker lineup to carry on that tradition in exterior settings, because the Bollard line adapts the same great sounding speaker drivers we’ve heard in their architectural series.
Remember all Theory Audio speakers only work with the company’s Loudspeaker Controllers for amplification. This specific pairing ensures maximum audio performance and setup flexibility.

The Theory ic6-Bollard and iws12-Bollard will be available in Q4 2024 through Theory Audio’s Commercial and Residential Partners. Prices forthcoming.
