Syntax Implements DIVA Audio Enhancement Bringing Virtual Surround Sound to Olevia LCD TVs

City of Industry, CA–July 7, 2005–Syntax Corporation™, one of the fastest-growing manufacturers of LCD TVs in North America, today announced its proprietary “Digital Interactive Virtual Audio” (DIVA) technology that delivers quality surround sound performance through Olevia™ LCD TV’s existing high quality speakers.

A key component of Syntax’s iDEA (Innovative Digitally Enhanced Architecture) technology, the DIVA digital sound processor provides consumers with several easily adjustable settings that enable them to simulate an array of audio environments for providing an enhanced realistic listening experience.

“iDEA’s DIVA technology bridges the gap between the high quality video images displayed on Olevia LCD TVs and the reality of their unique audio environment,” said James Li, Chief Executive Officer of Syntax Corporation. “We’re creating a truly life-like experience for our Olevia consumers regardless of whether they are watching regular TV, a DVD movie or any high definition content.”

Using Olevia’s on-screen display menu, consumers can select preset audio equalizer categories to best match the audio with the video content they are watching. Ambiance effects include options for enjoying realistic audio indicative of a concert, living room, arena, hall or church. A second set of equalizer presets typifies values for various kinds of audio including rock, pop, soft, live and classic. In addition to turning the surround sound option on and off, consumers can select the desired amounts of treble, bass, balance and volume leveling for an optimal total audio experience using the power of Olevia’s existing speakers. Through DIVA’s digital sound processor circuitry, audio-to-video phases are analyzed and matched to prevent lip-sync inconsistencies.

Syntax’s iDEA technology with the DIVA audio enhancement feature is currently being manufactured into Olevia LCD TVs ranging from 26″, 32″, 37″, 42″ as well as in Syntax’s future 47″ model to further extend the price/value of the cost effective Olevia line.

In addition to the DIVA digital sound processor feature, iDEA includes other digital video processing attributes for image enhancements such as Dynamic Brightness and Contrast Controls, Pure Edge Enhancement, Advance Sharpness Control, Dynamic Noise Reduction, Black Level Extender, White Peak Limiter, Flesh Tone Control and Adaptive Luma Control.
