Solegy Announces Multi-Protocol Presence Service

Open Source Components Available Through Open Source SIP Initiative

New York, NY and Boston, MA — September 12, 2006 — Solegy, a provider of managed service deployment and back-office systems for VoIP, wireless and cable networks, announced that it will launch a hosted presence service to augment its ServicePDQ platform today at the Fall VON show (Booth #810) in Boston, MA. Developed and hosted by Solegy, the presence service can be easily incorporated into any pre-existing or new network application.

Service PDQ presence can be used to indicate if a person is actually present and ready to interact with others, whether online, busy (on the phone), away (in instant messaging) or otherwise engaged. The presence service supports multiple protocols, including SIP/SIMPLE, XMPP, Parlay and IMS. Solegy clients will have the ability to insert, query and share a registered user’s status, location and capabilities through the presence service. Information available about registered users may include private/public IP addresses, latitude and longitude, type of terminal and the availability of video, among other user-specific information.

“With the availability of the multi-protocol managed presence service, Solegy enables a low-risk entry into a technology on which many future applications will depend. Presence-capable services can track whether you are in your car or at your desk,” stated Eric Hernaez, CEO of Solegy. “When used with the ServicePDQ platform’s other capabilities, such as online charging, real-time resource allocation and delegated administration, the presence service can empower a wide range of next generation applications.”

The fully managed, carrier-grade, feature-rich platform will enable service providers and network operators to easily incorporate presence capabilities into online applications, while saving on capex and operating expenses. This new service from Solegy can be used to enable features such as intelligent call forwarding, find me-follow me or advanced multi-domain instant messaging. The service is equally suited for peer-to-peer as well as server-centric applications and persists across multiple servers. Solegy customers can also choose to host a peer server owing to the platform’s distributed architecture. Pricing can range from $.10 to $2.00 per subscriber, depending on the number of subscribers.

For developers, Solegy is offering the cross-platform component that supports SIP/SIMPLE, Parlay and XMPP available as part of the Open Source SIP (www.opensourcesip.com) initiative to enable faster application deployment. Accelerating presence-based application development for the industry, the service will be available for free to developers during the development and validation period of their applications.
