Unobtrusive Device Combines Elegance and Power With 3.5-inch, Full-VGA-Resolution Display

Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) is now shipping the second generation of its award-winning RK-3 in-wall touchpanel controller, the RK3-V. Designed for flush-mount installations in walls or discreetly hidden away in cabinets, the RK3-V offers a compact, full-VGA-resolution display for a true combination of elegance, power, and flexibility for the control of today’s entertainment, environmental, and security systems.

The RK3-V features a compact display size while providing maximum resolution. The sleek design and small size of the RK-3V enables blending into any setting, yet its crisp 3.5 full-VGA resolution displays custom text, graphics, Web pages, and CD cover artwork with rich and vivid detail. To complement any decor, the RK3-V is available with a white or black faceplate and buttons in a matte or glossy finish. Low-profile bezels are also available in white, almond, ivory, silver, or black.

“With the RK3-V, we’ve taken an already powerful controller and improved it by adding full VGA resolution to its compact display, four times the resolution of its renowned predecessor. The result is graphics that are simply stunning,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “Further, the new color options for the faceplate, bezel, and buttons allow the touchpanel to integrate seamlessly into the decor of any project.”

A unique device, the RK3-V is the only compact in-wall touchpanel to provide both direct infrared control and 10/100Base-T Ethernet for displaying motion JPEG video and Web pages — either full screen or in an adjustable window. In addition, the programmable graphical user interface is completely customizable, allowing the integrator to easily provide complete, intuitive control for the end user with RTI’s Integration Designer™ software.

Offering the utmost in flexibility, the RK3-V can be used as a stand-alone device or as a part of an expandable central control system. With control of components from up to 1000 feet away using its infrared output port, integrators are free to install the touchpanel virtually anywhere in a home or building. When used with the available RTI accessory devices, the RK3-V is capable of infrared routing, relay control, power sensing, and RS-232 communications for advanced control. In addition, the RK3-V also offers bi-directional communication, allowing feedback from compatible devices such as music servers, environmental controls and even web-based information services such as weather forecasts.

The RK3-V is available at an MSRP of $999.00.
